I guess so, Shaun. Povetkin was guaranteed a huge payday against Wlad, twice. Way too much, imo. Something like $3 million, IIRC.

Again it was Povetkin who backed out and Wlad fought the Peter rematch.

Oh, I know that Povetkin could have had the fight 4x over by now.

My sarcasm was simply implying that K2 don't exactly offer the kind of paydays that just can't be matched. It's entirely possible that someone like Haye could offer Povetkin more than he'd get from the Wlad. And if you're in the sport for the money then that's a more sensible business move than taking on Wlad.

I think some of you guys are forgetting how good Povetkin can be. He's inconsistent, inactive, and at times just lackadaisical, out of shape, and you have no idea what is going through his head, sure, but this is the only man besides Wladimir to legitimately beat Eddie Chambers. The same man who also has a win over a pretty good combatant in Chris Byrd.

For the love of God, what kind of comparable win does Haye have at heavyweight?

If Haye can fight on PPV again, I completely agree. Povetkin would probably make around the same money in a Haye fight.

btw, was Haye-Chisora the latest PPV fight in UK?

K2 offer what their opponents worth, imo. But let's not go there, my lad.
It seems that Povetkin is in "for the money" lately. If he really decides to take on Haye, so be it.

    His legacy is ****ed anyways.

No, not quite. That was on a boxing subscription channel that ironically was saved from bankruptcy by Wladimir Klitschko a few weeks previously to that.

Wasn't even 'proper' PPV. Chisora is promoted by FW, who owns his own boxing channel over here which charges £10 per month subscription. The fight was on that channel and allowed people to make a one of subscription to view the fight.

However, that channel doesn't have a fraction of the marketing clout of Sky Box Office, which is 'proper' PPV here. I think the last fight on that was Haye - Wlad. But they're back in PPV with Froch - Kessler, and I have a strong suspicion they were going to do the same if a Haye - Vitali fight could be made.

I don't dispute that, and in my opinion Povetkin is worth a lot more to Haye than he is to K2 right now.

Povektin has no guarantee the Wlad fight will be still there for him...If he takes the fight with Haye and wins K2 will just say he had his chance and fought somebody else...K2 dont want that fight and it will give them another excuse to avoid it.

Haye have a real shot at greatness and possibly surpassing Lewis.

    He wasn't prime against Wlad:
    Think about it .. He's 32.. Wlad is 37.
This is amazing stuff. Haye can beat Povetkin, Vitali,+Chambers+Adamek.
Go after a 39 year old Wlad.. he himself will be 34. This is assuming Wlad's chin haven't cracked again. Haye can literally clean out the division and become a ATG.

Really hope this is true, this is a fight I'll look forward to more than a Vitali fight.

Haye wins this fight and Wlad will have to face him again. Haye will stop Povetkin in 4 rounds and expose the human punching bag for what he is. I bet Wlad is not happy about this.

The Telegraph (a UK newspaper which I feel is the most reliable for boxing) states he MAY make a comeback. It depends on dates and (surprise, surprise) money. It states:

But Haye's return to the ring for the first time since he knocked out Dereck Chisora last July at Upton Park will depend on how the dates and finances stack up as he makes an assault on becoming a mandatory challenger to one, or even both of the Klitschko brothers.

Haye is currently ranked No 5 by the WBC, No 1 by the WBA, No 4 by the IBF, and No 4 by the WBO. Wladimir Klitschko holds the WBO, WBA and IBF titles, while his elder brother Vitali is the incumbent WBC champion.

Haye was defeated in July 2011 by Wladimir by a wide points decision in Germany, losing the WBA crown.

Vitali Klitschko's management team has refused to return correspondence relating to a fight date, and contracts, sent to his team in recent weeks, Booth has revealed.

As Telegraph Sport reported last week, the British Boxing Board said that Haye reapplied for his boxing licence with the Board last November, though they confirmed that it will be granted on completion of his annual medical requirements, which are still pending.

Former heavyweight title challenger Manuel Charr tweeted yesterday that "#TeamDiamondBoy will do their very best to force Haye to fight me next."
But the Hayemaker camp yesterday told Telegraph Sport that Char's claims were unfounded.
It is possible that Haye may take two fights to get his desired position in the rankings, with several opponents including Jonathan Banks, Robert Hellenius, and Alexander Povetkin as the potential route to the title.
