I don't think the weight gain was intentional but just his body naturally filling out with age. His giving up size to the larger heavyweights isn't going to be an issue anyway. His completely shot reflexes, time away from the ring and general overratedness as a fighter will be.

I can't really disagree at this point unless he shows something in his comeback but to me this latest news isn't a good sign. I think he was dangerous on form, he showed that against chisora, but can't see him getting back into that shape.

His style was never one bound for longevity, and now that he's on the physical downslide all the bad habits he was able to get away with and lack of general boxing nous that he should have developed during that time will come back to haunt him. He's now just a rather average undersized heavyweight with a bit of pop and and a whole lot of exploitable flaws, no better than someone like Szpilka IMO.

I still believe Haye is an elite level heavyweight, yes one who is showing a bit of decline but lets be honest he went into that fight injured, just watch the video of him walking to the ring.

The thing is he knew there was no-way he could pull out of that fight due to his past pull outs, if he had of pulled out everything would have been much harder going forward to secure fights and pay days,

I really want to see a rematch.

The people writing haye off already are the people who don't have the mentality to overcome adversity and give up to early, 41 year old Wlad is the perfect example of HW's being able to fight on past their mid 30's,

Haye looked fat and sloppy in his last 3 fights, This might very well be because hes older and no longer has it, but there is also a strong possibility that this is down to the all that extra weight, He came in 14lbs heavier than he did against chisorsa, That's alot of weight for a naturally slim guy and he wasn't even super lean he was carrying alot unnecessary fat and for a guy who's style is based on speed this is a huge disadvantage. He should drop back down in weight to 210-215max imo, And if his injury is going to heal as well as he proposes, I would give david haye a very good shot at beating ANY current HW.

I would want him to go back to Adam Booth, shane didn't look like the right one for Haye.

My guess is Shane is not a good enough trainer for haye.

He looked like he could've lost the best part of a stone to me. Might of been trying to save the Achilles in training I don't know. His muscles looked bloated, even though he was in good nick !

I have never been a fan of shane, I don't think he was great for frampton either,

You only had to look at the size of haye in his last fights to see that's not the body type of somebody who is going to be light on their feet and fast like the old haye. Haye is not a real HW but he was able to compete because he was so fast and elusive while still carrying enough power to still do damage at HW. He can't do that being so big and heavy its counter productive to his entire style.

Wlad and Haye should never be compared as either boxers or athletes, one is an ATG the other is a Z last celeb.
