There is little doubt that Haye is ducking Briggs like big time. He can't use the excuse that Briggs has no draw. Briggs probably has a larger draw than Haye.
shannon briggs is self promoting david haye is self promoting. trouble with making the fight is that briggs wants haye to pay him a lot of money . if either had a big promoter backing them fight could be made easy / but with 2 huge egos in play and IMO the fact the fight is easy to call means it probably will not happen/ although it should as haye needs some rounds in his comeback.
Haye did say he would fight Briggs if had won on his undercard. Briggs won, and Haye went running for the hills. He needs to keep his promise and give the man his payday.
the figure haye offered briggs was around $300 k i have read on esb not seen or know if this is accurate. if it was then IMO that is a good payday as far as i understand it that is double what duhaupus/spilzka/molina/ got for fighting wilder for a portion of the heavy title. the articles i read said they all received $150k
Briggs winning was hardly in doubt. The Argie he fought had no idea how to protect himself and was basically giving Briggs free hits at his body.
He should forget Haye as he's not relevant at HW anyway,I mean look at how the belts have been freed up and yet he's not been mentioned,Briggs should just keep fighting whenever he can.
Haye has been a disgrace to boxing since he came back after 4 years out. He needs to fight a live body. We all know he will fighting another diver come Dec 12th
LOL. That's exactly the reason he wants/needs to fight and KO Haye, to get into contention. Haye knows this and this is exactly why he is ducking Briggs. He don't want to lose his spot.
Yeah Haye is ducking Briggs, but for a different reason than most would say. It's about how he'd look in the fight. Only thing he can do is outbox old Briggs and a top heavyweight is supposed to knock out old ex champions or there'd be a backlash. Haye could easily outbox Briggs, but can't knock him out. Since he won't look good it's no benefit to Haye.
That's a problem too because Briggs is at great risk of losing to a mid level Heavyweight. Brigg's work rate and stamina is just really bad over a 12 round fight. He wants a straight shot to the top. He's too old to be active too. A rock and a hard place.
Haye is a con artist, only back because he is skint. He will fight Bellew at a catchweight, then cash out v Aj.
