[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X5N73PZVm-g&feature=related[/ame] David Haye can do 30 chin ups like it aint nothing. Haye is great at chin ups. Do you think that is a sign of punching power or that, that training increases punching power in a fighter?
Haye KO1 Wlad in a chin up competition. Wlad has to wear a motorcycle helmet to do chin ups in case his chin grazes the bar and he's rendered unconscious.
Sorry but in the gym we call those 'baby chin ups' Try a wide overhand grip and fully extended. Do 30 of those and I would be impressed , I can do 13.
Why not just call them bicep pull ups? You have stated two different exercises using muscles in different ways.
Hard to engage someone who is so terrified of being hit that they either run backwards at full speed or cling on to you with their octopussy arms if you attack them. In that situation all you can do is what Haye did - drop your hands, stick your chin out, make the 'greatest jabber of all time' miss like a mug and then win the event. Haye EVT Wlad. It's irrefutable.
I dont think I have , maybe how I explained. Overhand is knuckles showing and works the lats, reverse would be fingers showing and the reverse works the biceps more as you have pointed out. thanks.
Why would you use wide grip pull ups? You don't have your arms out wide when you're boxing. Shoulder width works the biceps, traps as well at a greater range of motion. Wide grip restricts the range of motion and is more of a bodybuilder exercise. Haye didn't go full range with those and they were more of the 'kip' variety, still reasonably impressive for a guy of his size.
My main point was you calling them 'baby chin ups'. If you were being sarcastic and going along with the way this thread has gone so far, fair enough. :good But they are two different exercises, using a variety of muscles in a different way, the difficulty level of each exercise differing due to this. The way you described it was, 'baby chin ups' - close grip. And 'wide' - wide grip pull up. Ignoring the differing hand placements.
Im not saying what type of excercises he should or shouldnt do , Im just saying that type of chin up he is doing is not that difficult and 30 isnt a big number , although the thread starter thought it was.
Yeah I probably got it wrong, we call those 'baby chin ups' for beginners in the gym as chins are such a hard excercise , and the close grip gives you the chance to get your form right and push out a few reps. It wasnt to disrespect the guy , its just quite an easy excercise for someone of his fitness levels. Peace.
