David Haye would have come back, hadn't there been scary contenders. But now, there's this Joshua guy, that looks like the terminator, and there's that Parker guy, who kills midsections, and there's Tyson Fury, the rumors about him scared so much that he pulled out TWICE to not fight him, and Wilder has showed he could maybe fight smart enough to not get clipped by him, so, Ghaymaker won't come back. Too many young dangerous sharks in the pool.
I always though he should've stayed at CW. He was a dynamic fighter in that weight class, and he could've really carved himself a HOF resume if he stayed and dominated that division. I remember him beating Maccaranelli and thinking to myself this guy can be a very dominant and long standing CW champion if he wanted to. It's obviously not the most glamorous division in the sport, but he's just too small for HW to be taking on some of those giants that outweigh him by 20 + pounds.
His career has turned into one big disappointment. He was actually a refreshing fighter when he was at Cruiser. His career has been somewhat of a disaster at heavyweight in terms of his activity, and not taking on top contenders. A shame as he could have had a lot of people's respect, as when on form he can be an exciting and devastating fighter. Instead, he is a figure of ridicule.
Yeah from a boxing POV. but the $$ disparity at heavyweight from cruiser is often too tempting. Didn't he make like 25 mil vs Wlad? And probably made a good chunk for the Chisora fight too.
$10,000,000 for Wlad (dollars) and £5,000,000 ($8m dollars) respectively. $18m in 12 months is excellent. Take away your taxes, fees etc etc and he still retains about 40% of that. Then there is the money he made vs Audley and Ruiz too and he has done very well. The saddest part was that he was never 100% confident in his own abilities (too much weight training etc damaged him) which prevented him from making so really big money. His Wladimir fight could have been built up like a Mayweather-Pac fight over a number of years. Instead he fought Monte Barret, Audley, Valuev and John Ruiz. Had he stayed more active (3 fights a year) his bank balance would have been alot healthier too.
His girlfriends probably don't even want to touch him He would tell them - "We SHOULD have ***" But in reality, he backs out everytime their passions get heated up. :deal
