"I was so frustrated with myself because I knew I could have beaten Haye but at the end of the day it dosen't matter what has gone on outside the ring, people will only remeber what happened inside"

    - Enzo Maccarenelli (who suffered a 2nd round knockout to Haye).

A rematch between the Britains two best cruiserweights is unlikely as things stand now. Enzo has got to rebuild and Haye is chasing o the heavyweight glory.

But Enzo seems to think he blew his chance - and suggested outside personal issues might have hampered his performance in the ring.
I think that everything with right for Haye that night - and everything went wrong for Maccarenelli - he would stand a better chance of a better performance in a rematch - but I doubt wether he is good enough to beat Haye. I wonder if they had a rematch would it go the same way or develop into a totally different fight.

Whatever people say about Haye was too good - maybe - but one thing I noticed for whatever reason - Enzo didnt perform that night - he was committed to throwing punches with confidence - I think this was down to the fear factor of facing a power puncher like Haye- but if Enzo managed to bring his A game would it be a different story?

i cant see Enzo beating Haye in any situation, his style is taylor made for someone like Haye who hits hard, throws alot of punches and moves well. He comes forward too hard and his defense is patchy

Speed was too much apparent in that fight ... Enzo would've been taken out sooner or later. Haye was warming up by the second round and was too fast for Enzo to avoid. His best bet is to schedule a fight with Cunningham to re-establish himself, although this loss didn't do too much to damage him being Haye was simply out of his class.

the only thing is Haye took nothing back in this fight - if Enzo could start landing on Haye - Haye could be in big trouble himself

I thought the main factor was defense - Enzo has a very leaky defence - and when Haye was unloading on him in the corner - Enzo didnt know how to defend himself - and when he went down he went straight back up and stumbled like a drunk to centre ring while out on his feet - instead of composing himself - maybe taking a knee - looking to his corner for instruction - it was all a bit amateurish from Enzo

the main factor in this fight for me - it seems no-one has ever shown Enzo Maccarenelli how to really defend himself - cos he has never had to - until he met a fighter as good as David Haye.

Enzo was totaly outclassed by a superior fighter and any remach could only take place if Enzo did somthing at Heavy.

If Enzo can come back and unify some crusier titles than move up to heavy - who would be intrested in seeing a rematch then?

Ezno Maccaroni is a carefully matched "champion" who has never faced anything but subpar opposition and got gift calls from the refs like when his kidney punch got counted as a legit knockout! Check out boxrec.com - he lost one of his early fights to a nothing fighter.

Hmm, so all we need is a fight where Haye just stands there and let Maccarinelli hit him and maybe Enzo could win.

The reason Haye took nothing back is that he was way too good for Enzo to actually hit.

Enzo moved in and out in straight lines with his chin in the air and you cannot do that with a guy who punches like David Haye.

I really really wanted Enzo to win but Haye wins 99 times out a 100. Enzo's preparation was terrible, his sparring was awful but it doesnt change the fact he got beat and very badly beaten.

YES I know the point your making and I am aware of this and accept your point - that it is Haye which makes it more diffcult to fight him

however I dont think David Haye is too hard to hard

Haye is no Defensive genius like Pernell Whitaker

I think Enzo froze and didnt let his shots go cos he gave Haye too much respect - he was backing up - not going forawrd as he normally does and unloading

does anyone know what the outside ring issues were the week of the fight that Enzo alleges he had which he claims effected his performance?

I can't believe Enzo Macc is suggesting that he had problems out of the ring that prevented him from performing well.
Enzo had loads of time to prepare, physically and mentally and there was nothing in the build up that hinted he wasn't right. Enzo brought his "A" game, but it simply wasn't anything like good enough.
Enzo isn't big enough to go up to heavyweight, he even looked as if he could lose a couple of pounds at cruiserweight. Any rematch at the higher weight would be unhealthy for Enzo. His best bet is to regain some credibility at cruiserweight, there's plenty of good fights left for him.

He never could, never did, and never will beat David Haye, he needs to get over it and move on, or he will be remembered as just a very easy payday for Haye.
