Byrd for me. He beat much better competition.

However, Haye's right hand would do well against Byrd's southpaw stance, and he's got the handspeed to land it occasionally, so a good, winnable fight by either guy.

I would lean Byrd however I will say one of Byrd's earlier fights which was also one of his more difficult ones (that nobody remembers) was against Arthur Williams (a career CW). His matrix abilities don't look as good against guys more his size.

    (fight is on youtube)

I would still lean Byrd though

Haye bottled it against Wladimir after talking so much trash by dancing around the ring making no effort to win and then blaming the performance on his little toe.

Byrd with a weeks notice went to Vitali’s backyard and got a W out of it.

Byrd all day long for me he beat Tua, Vitali, and even the version of Holyfield that Byrd beat is better than anyone on Haye's Heavyweight resume.

To be fair that was Byrd's 11th pro fight.

Haye in his 11th pro fight was getting stopped in 5 rounds by a 40+ year old Carl Thompson.

Haye would win this. Byrd didn’t like speed+power.

Something tells me Haye even though Byrd did more work at heavyweight.

More proof Byrd is overrated. Haye is better then Byrd.

Byrd, Mercer and Tua are the holy trinty of hype.

But Byrd has a much better resume, at least on paper. It isn't close.

His resume isn’t really much of an indicator.

    1. His best win is Tua, who obviously is totally unlike Haye.
    2. Haye beat Valuev and Byrd, officially at least, has a win over Vitali. Neither looked especially good.
    3. Haye smoked Chisora and beat up an aging Ruiz. Byrd fought Golota to a draw and beat some guys weren’t in Haye’s league like Harris, an ancient and injured Holyfield, McCline, an Oquendo.
    4. Haye performed well against smaller fighters at cruiser. Byrd was used to big heavyweights only.
    5. Haye did better against Wlad than Byrd although neither did well.

Valuev is a slow oaf who Holyfield arguably beat. Haye also seemingly avoided Cunningham, he looked good against pressure fighters like Mormick so maybe thats why

Haye will be forced to be the aggressor and has never fought anyone with Byrds angles, imo he'd lose on points like a majority decision or something, although I'd be close
