Neither really fought a proxy of the other, but I have a hunch that Haye would win based on the following: 1. Haye’s ceiling was below Wlad and higher than the other heavyweights he fought, who weren’t the best but also weren’t terrible. Byrd’s ceiling was a little better than McCline and Golota based on his results. 2. Byrd went from aging to looking hopelessly shot when he dropped to light heavyweight. I think part of that is that he just wasn’t used to dealing with fast hands and feet.
Or maybe Byrd was drained ? I guess i can see Haye winning but to say Haye is better does not sit right with me.
Haye would probably piece Byrd up early on. Wouldn't have to worry about much coming back at him either. Fight probably gets more interesting if it reaches the second half though. I could see Haye getting frustrated/fading if he can't get Byrd out of there. But he certainly wouldn't be some slow cement footed HW that Byrd totally styles on I know that much.
I dunno man I don't think haye was anywhere near the level of ibeabuchi. I got prime Byrd from thunder to tua. I dont think haye touches that byrd
Maybe. maybe not. But we do know he was a very good fighter and not some oaf that Byrd would just dance rings around. I think it's a pretty competitive fight.
While I feel Byrd is a little better overall, for their dimensions, I don't really think it is by that much. And with the idea that it isn't by much and that one of them is a light puncher and the other one is a cat-quick bomber, I just don't like the fight for Byrd. Haye is also a spurt fighter and Byrd did absorb a lot from Wlad across the distance once, so, it's possible Haye won't hurt him enough to finish him and will flag and let Byrd manage to outpoint him. Haye's ability to attack a guy who isn't quite tall and bomb him out has been demonstrated pretty dramatically at heavyweight. The problem for Byrd is he's not going to pressure him into a points win, because Haye's mobility is an actual factor here. I actually went from a knee-jerk Byrd win to a gut check follow-up that this was far less likely than a Haye win, because Haye is more capable of winning two ways than Byrd will be, and significantly. I'm surprised we have some of the push-back against Byrd here, because Byrd seems to be the most respected Wlad victim, in a way, on Classic and Haye maybe the most overlooked of Wlad's...victim is a bit much- Wlad's wins. Unleash and Neck have made some good points. Maybe it goes without saying Byrd would have some stylistic advantages on some of their combined best opponents that Haye would not have and vice versa, but against each other, I'm going with Haye as the most likely winner.
