Might come down to who hit who first. Given Patterson's superior overall skill and faster hands, I'll say he lands the big punch first as Haye isn't the most elusive of fighters, and Patterson takes him out early as Haye's chin has also been shown to be less than stellar.
Floyd is superior in everything with the exception or power - perhaps. Faster hands, better technique, better defense and better chin. Floyd KO before the 5th.
Despite the fact that the Cruisers that Haye was fighting were actually heavier than Paterson and quite a few of the guy's he fought. I do not nessecarly disagree with you otherwise, I just think that is not a very good argument. Is pretty much a pick-em. Who ever lands first, they both have the capacity to put each other to sleep.
Haye punches as hard as Liston or Johannson? I doubt it very much. And yes Patterson is more proven against hws. He fought a lot of guys much bigger than him and most of them were beaten by him. Patterson is an atg hw and Haye is a very good cw but absolutly unproven against top hw competition.
YEs actually I think he does hit as hard, if not harder, Haye has genuinely brutal 1 punch power. He's certainly bigger than both (weighing 210-220 on fight night with a much lower body fat) However he fights with his hands down and I see this fault getting exposed, outboxed and stopped, hes also not the best on the inside or mid-range
Yes he does, shockingly enough. Cruisers enter the ring at 210ish so they would be and are decent sized heavy's in good shape. Which is pretty much Listons best weight and significantly heavier than Patterson. So the 200lb without water CW's, would have been decent sized HW's.
Against who has he proven that he hits as hard as them? Sorry but as long as he hasn´t fought durable hws I don´t rate his power up there. And again he isn´t proven against top hws but Patterson is. I never pick a unproven fighter over a proven one if he doesn´t have a considerable advantage of power, speed or something like that.
I understand what you're saying and in a couple of years we might have a much better idea of Haye's power. For now though, it does appear that the guy will be a big puncher at heavyweight. Patterson's a great fighter but he lost early against big punchers. Haye is unproven but he is a big puncher at 200lbs. A case for Haye can be made, even now.
Amen. I'd like to see this quote in the endless Tony Ayala posts. I think it's about 5 years too early to suggest Haye could beat Patterson. Patterson is unfortunately remembered mostly for his losses. He was a very good fighter and I'd see him stopping Haye in about 6 or 7 rounds. If/when Haye improves his resume considerably this could change.
The cruserweights Haye has fought are at LEAST as big as the heavyweights Patterson was fighting and bigger just compare the stats if you don't believe me Macerinneli - 2nd round KO Mormeck - 1 punch KO Gurov (6'5) - 1 punch KO in 1st round Bonin (37-1 230lb HW) - 1st round blow out Fragomeni (21-0) - 9th round stoppage Kelly (LHW opponent of RJJ) - 2nd round ko These guys are bigger than Pattersons opponents and weighed in the ring 205-215 and were world class fighters or contenders. Haye when he caught them stapled them to the canvas emphatically Haye is well proven at Cruser destroying 2 of the top 3 in the world. Patterson was a cruserweight fighting cruserweights and lost to a cruserweight
