David Haye vs. Greg Page

From what I have seen of Haye impressed me. I watched his amateur fight vs Solis and many of his Pro fights. Haye has talent from what I can see from his limited heavyweight experience.

His fight vs Valuev was a running event but he actually staggered Valuev in the last rd. Hayes other heavyweight fights are meaningless and his victory over E Mac tarnished because Enzo lost 2 of his next 3 fights. From what I have seen of Haye thus far he would not beat a fit Greg Page but the Ruiz fight and they way the fight end will be important, despite the fact that Ruiz has seen better days.

I believe that he has talent and power and speed, how well he takes it and how much he can take are issues that remain to been seen.

We have all seen fighter talk the talk but walking the walk is quite another thing

 

Page at his best not too many people can deal with.Problem was, he was only probably close to that in maybe two, three fights tops.If he's on point, he decisions or stops David late, if not, David wins a UD over 12.

 

Page was always flabby at that 238 pounds at which he felt good at, but he was in good enough shape there for the most part.... The Page who hammered "Tillis, Snipes & Coetzee" was very good technically, and had power..

After Page pissed away his title to Tubbs in 1985, Page never was the same ever again....

Until we see David Haye beat a heavyweight who is capable of boxing and is younger than age 36, I'm not picking him over anybody..

 

Yeah, even if he beat Vitali that doesn't prove anything.

Haye wouldn't fight Vitali and opted to face Valuev, Barret and Ruiz Instead... Hence my position.

 

I doubt it.
Vitali's 38 years old and looking for easy paydays. If Haye beats him he'll still have huge question marks over him. everyone will know he just beats up old men.

Wlad's 34 now. These are old men. Even if Haye cleans up, he'll go down in history as a man who built his record on over-the-hill fighters.

He's fought such low-grade opponents it's impossible to know if he's any good. :good

 

Vitali has slowed a bit, but I think Wlad is at his respective peak. I still think the physical size and awkwardness of Vitali still makes him a difficult puzzle to figure out, and would take a guy with fairly decent skills to beat and someone who would be capable of competing with Page, but just my opinion. Haye has shown me nothing so far other than being fairly quick and somewhat reckless besides Valuev which leads me to believe hes going to become very cautious in future fights now that he has the belt. Ruiz is 38 years old too, amazing!

 

See what you mean. I like what I've seen of Haye so far,but it's hard to evaluate how good a heavyweight he is. A prime and focused Greg Page would take some beating. Talentwise he was the best of the 80's heavyweights,apart from Holmes and Tyson,of course.

 

Despite his advanced age, Vitali Klitschko is the right kind of test that David Haye needs. His size, conditioning and experience might still prove to be a big obstacle in Haye's quest to prove his value at these levels.. If they were to fight tomorrow, I'd probably favor Vitali on the basis of proven ability at heavyweight. He deserves some credit due to the fact that he has kept busy since his return, and while his opposition may not be stellar, I would hardly call them stiffs either... I don't think any man in history has taken a four year leave of abscence and captured a world title upon his very FIRST fight back after such a leave... Say what you will about Sam Peter, but he was 10 years younger than Klit, had only lost once to the best in the division, and was never stopped.... That counts for something in my book ( though others seem to give Vitali ****all credit for the win...)

 

Another underachieving 80s hw with alot of talent...If he gets fired up he kos HAye in the mid to late rounds... He was just a better boxer and all around fighter, even a fat Page was just as fast... Haye the slight edge n Power,but page had a good beard in his prime so it woldnt matter... If A half ass Page shows up it would be close could go either way. .. A prepareed one gives away a couple rounds but gets his jab and punches flowing Page Ko 10

 

Haye would have decisioned this version of Page. If you watch the Page-Coetzee film, you'll see that it was very tightly contested until the final round. Arguably, if Coetzee hadn't elected to slug (in a misguided effort to get Page's respect), he might have won on points. Haye wouldn't have slugged with Page. I say Haye by comfortable UD.
