This fight was very interesting, so much so I broke out my Data Boxing dice game. The fighter’s cards where extremely close. The fight was very close As well, back and forth, it seemed Haye controlled the pace though. If Haye lost a round it was normally because Sharkey rallied. If it went 10 rounds, Haye would have won a close unanimous call, 12 rounds would have been a draw on all three cards. Now if it went 15, in the 14th Haye knocked down Sharkey and he rose at the count of 4. With 22 seconds remaining in the 14th the fight was stopped with Sharkey on shaky legs. Haye TKO 14 Sharkey.

I'm going to contend that heavyweights in the post-modern era are just a lot better than they were in the 1930's.

Just going to put that out there.

Exactly, a lot of the top guys from the 30s wouldn’t even be contenders today

It’s common sense, as a matter of fact a lot of them wouldn’t even be heavyweights today

Jack Sharkey peaked in the late 1920's and the man may have been a bit inconsistent but he could fight .. he was fast, highly skilled and took a terrific punch as well .. to compare him to Haye like many of these other match ups you'd need to factor in the drugs ..

Physical strength isn’t a big factor but it cannot be debated if you think Sharkey is stronger ima have to ask for your pipe.

Haye isn't a HW by modern standards either. It's already explained that they were comparable in terms of size.
