David Haye vs James Toney: Worthwhile fight, or is Toney too far gone now?

I think Toney is far too shot, he's slow as hell now. Easy night of potshotting for Haye.

 

The trash talk for this fight would certainly set a world record. JT 80 plus pro fights and over 40 years old. I will still root for JT against anyone. He is the man.

 

The Toney that beat Holyfield would stop Haye but today Haye beats the **** out of Toney.

 

Sure let the man fight Toney and retain his belt for doing so.. Hell, why not have him fight Roy Jones or bring Foreman out of retirement while we're at it...

 

Toney's shot. The last thing he needs is to be fighting young big punchers. Toney's my favourite fighter but I want him to retire.

 

David Haye has ducked James Toney one year ago and fought Monte Barrett instead. Haye claimed that he respected Toney too much to face him because if he would then he would knock him (James) out. What a lame excuse, the real reason was that Toney just might still be too dangerous and give him some problems - at the very least Toney wouldn't get KOed in exciting fashion. And why would Haye fight Toney now that James stock has fallen even more? High risk, no reward.

The bottom line is, we don't know what Toney still has left. And he's not showing us anything either, since he doesn't fight (this is not his own fault though, but it's the fault of his promoter Dan Goossen). Two rounds against a total bum in Matthew Green don't show us anything. While it's known that he's serious, focused and (literally) hungry again, and that he's working out every single day and has slimmed down to 208lbs, it doesn't mean **** since he's not having a fight. Very frustrating for his fans, I can tell you. And no matter in what shape Toney is in now, it might very well be too little too late and he's indeed totally shot. But I want to see it first.

IF Toney has something left, I guess he would give Haye a tough fight. Stylewise, Haye is right for Toney - Haye is open when throwing these hayemakers, Toney can counter him, and power is the last thing to bother Toney with. On the other side, Haye might just as well run all night, move a lot and outwork Toney. He's much faster than James. Haye wouldn't enter Toneys danger zone, because he knows Toney would still own him there. But one thing seems clear to me - Haye wouldn't be able to stop Toney. If Toney really is shot to pieces, Haye would maybe punish him, maybe even bust him up, but not stop him.

 

Bad matchup for Haye. Just like Vitali, Toney knows how to box. Unlike Vitali, Toney can take a punch. Despite Toney's speed, Toney would hit that glass jaw of Haye's at least once, and once could be enough to end Haye's career.

 

Any heavyweight who can actually FIGHT, is a bad matchup for Haye.

 

LOL Haye would murder this bum, Toney wouldn't fight him anyway, he knows he would get KTFO within 3 rounds.

 

Toney dosen't need to take anymore powerful head shots the man needs to retire for the good of himself, his family and the good of boxing in general :bbb

 

Well that 'bum' Greer had Toney all over the place at one point.

 

Style wise, this fight looks good for Toney
