You talk like Ruiz is a joke fighter.

Truth is his resume is much deeper than Peters and their last common opponent McCline, was defeated far easier by Ruiz

Uhm so let me get this straight.

    The Haye fans say

    * "Oh look, Haye is way too fast for Sam Peter, he won't land a glove on him".

    Then I said

    * "Wait a second, even a 38 year old John Ruiz was able to connect jabs and double jabs with Haye, how can you rule out Peter can land on him every once in a while then?"

If grandpops Ruiz can land on Haye then why can't Peter? That doesn't mean Peter will automatically KO Haye, I just wonder what makes people think Haye's "awesome reflexes" will allow him to avoid any and all punches?

    Complete non-sense.

Yes, a 38 year old Ruiz was a complete and utter joke. Just like a 38 year old Barrett. Just like a 38 year old Briggs, just to show it goes both ways between Haye and the Klitschkos.

Ruiz is a much craftier, better technician than Peter. Whilst the speed is comparable, that's not the whole story. Ruiz, fir all his faults, isn't hugely technically flawed like Peter is. Ruiz throws better punches, chooses his shots better, has a more accurate shot and knows how to counter punch.

Peter is just a puncher with a complete lack of technical skill, which is why he has so few clean knockouts considering his raw power.

Peter and Valuev are comparably bad punchers. Ruiz is better than both.

Yeah he most certainly would land something during the fight but Hayes reflexes wouldn’t allow Peter to hit him with anything meaninfull.

Just like Ruiz, Barret and Valuev didnt

Well, for a start, when's the last time Peter threw a double-jab? And christ, Ruiz's and Barrett's jab had a lot more speed to it than Peter's ever had. Peter is good once he starts winging away with hooks and throwing the leather, but since when has he had a jab??

Peter gets into position to throw his shots by slowly shuffling forward, he doesn't use the jab to close the gap in his entire career. That's how Kiltschko mananged to beat him so easily, Peter doesn't have any head movement and just uses his bulk to get close to someone before unloaded. Against anyone with some lateral movement and quick enough to fire off shots then GTFO of there he's ruined.

I'm sorry but even if Peter does managed to land the occasion grazing shot, which I reckon he probably will, I can't see him winning a round against Haye. How can you win a round when you barely make contact with the opponent? Peters only chance is a KO

Of course Peter's only chance is a KO, no doubt. A decent combo after he's able to corner a tiring Haye. He has a bad work rate and tires easily after trying to land big punches. He boxes in spurts. Peter would exploit that, or at least try to exploit that by plodding after Haye when he takes a breather.

Haye is a better boxer, he wins against Peter, he is able to avoid most of Peters wild looping punches unless he runs out of gas etc. etc. I don't have a problem with all that.

Hopefully we can end the "Haye easily stops Peter in 3 rounds, easiest fight ever" fantasy. That's all I have a problem with.

No you're right it would last longer than 3 rounds, but I personally think a stoppage could happen. I would see it being Haye compltely outboxing and outfighting Peter until the late rounds when either a corner stoppage would take him out of it, or he would lose a wipeout on the scorecards.

The discussion is useless....Haye never would step in the ring with Peter and he knows why. Peter connected vs. Wlad last week early. Klitschko somehow took it. Haye wont take a left hook from Peter. I am sure. Haye would outbox Peter for 6-8 rounds until he gets caught when being sloppy at the ropes....

no way in hell does haye stop peter. wlad didnt stop peter per se.

please dont hate on me for that comment, listen to my justification first. wlad spent most of the night loading up on his shots and whilst they jarred peter, they didnt really hurt him bad. so in the final round he started doing a pacqiao-esque attack by hitting peter with quick angled shots which knocked him off his feet and over due mainly to the fatigue of peter and the speed of wlads punches.

now haye couldnt do that because he wouldnt be able to clinch the energy out of peter, nor would he have the height leverage. he wouldnt get as close because peter would have a chance of catching him.

haye would potshot his way to victory in my book. maybe bringing on the punishment late on. maybe earning a mercy stoppage. but i dont see him putting peter on his arse.

This amongst many threads are wlad fans clutching at straws over just how dire wlads resume is and trying to make it look better.

I really dont understand people talking about Hayes mythical power at heavy he hasnt floored anybody for the count yet.. ruiz and barret both of whom have been ko'd before he couldnt keep down ala Wlad - Chambers.. Haye has good not great power at heavy.. no chance in hell does he stop Peter. haye boxes to a boring UD while avoiding meaningful exchanges or haye gets caught with something lucky and gets ko'd... Seriously where the hell has this mythical power been since moving to heavyweight?
