The guy won in convincing fashion and put on an exciting fight - what more do you want? He was on the backfoot because he didnt want to get dragged into an attritional brawl/hugfest. Makes perfect sense against Ruiz.
If he does beat Wlad/Vitali he could make ten quick defences just fighting their previous opponents (Kingpin, Fast Eddie and co), but I have a feeling Haye selects his fights carefully and only as many as he feels are necessary. He's not fought many pro fights and I don't think he intends to fight many more. He seems to be pretty much in control of his career, unlike many other fighters, and he knows how to make money as well, so I can't picture him fighting to pay the bills (but you never know). Four sounds like a likely figure, but if he loses against the first Klitschko he faces then he loses a lot of marketability because nobody else will want to fight him after that. Personally if I managed him I would take another couple of fights before going for the Klitschko's, firstly because it gives him time to prepare himself, and secondly because losing a Klitschko fight would be the end of big-money fights (except perhaps a possible domestic against Audley).
Its a double edged sword for him. Thats the fight everyone cares about, a Klit fight, but its the highest risk fight. There really isn't anything out there nearly as compelling, but some good fights for him might be Audley, Povetkin or Solis...and I guess we will have to see a contractual rematch with Valuev.
August '10 - Winner of Adamek v Arreola December '10 - Tony Thompson May '11 - Wladimir Klitschko October '11 - Vitali Klitschko :deal
Haye will not have belt after that red, so Thompson in December will be his eliminator for whoever have WBA title next.
Arreola would be knocked the **** out. He doesn't have the dedication or technical skill to match up to Haye, nor the chin to take his bombs. He'd be knocked out early. Adamek would be a little harder because he's technically more sound, but I doubt he could take legit heavyweight power either. He may beat Arreola, but it'll be because Arreola won't be landing. Regardless, Haye hits harder with quicker, sharper and crisper punches more often anyway. I would have said Povetkin, but he'll probably fight Wlad and got knocked out before then. Otherwise, who else is there? Thompson is tall and technical and would be decent preparation for either Klitschko, mainly Wlad. Either him or Dimitrenko.
i wouldnt be surprised if he retires after losing to one of the klitschkos. he may never fight one is the only problem
