    I didn’t actually realise this.

Fair point, never had a world title at heavyweight.

At the time there was no 'super' champion.
    Haye was full champ.
WBA recognises champs who also hold one of the IBF/WBC/WBO belts as the Super champ.
Therefore, the winnner of Klitschko-Haye also became WBA Super champ.

So when did the WBA introduce two world title belts?

It was around the year 2000, but there was never a Super champ at HW until the Klitschko Haye fight. You can see the progression here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_WBA_world_champions#Heavyweight

1999-2000: "Lewis was stripped of title after agreeing to fight WBC challenger, Michael Grant first and then John Ruiz. Ruiz challenged this decision in court on the basis of a clause in the Lewis-Holyfield rematch contract that said Lewis's first bout as undisputed champion would be against the WBA's number one contender. For this reason, the WBA then created the Super belt".

Even when Haye is retired people can’t resist taking pathetic, ill-informed jabs at him.

He was a champion, and he beat a giant on his homeground to do so.
I'm not a Haye fan, but although it was a terrible match, he deserves some credit for winning a legit World Title.
