Boxers get paid millions to punch people as hard as they can... and then get moaned at when they say things like they'll put their opponent in hospital.

I am sure Bellew would have rather have had a nice buddy-buddy build up to hype the fight, and got paid half as much in the process.

He just took a page out of Mike Tyson's intimidation book is all. personally I found it refreshing, its better than the rigged table throwing press conferences....

its also better than the Klit v Joshua bore fests. ok there nothing wrong with sportsmanship but at least try and sound like you want to beat each other! this over done outpouring of mutual respect. seems like Haye is tired of that as well and has gone full on with the smack talk. I found his comment about Wlad and AJ holding hands under the Eiffel tower amusing to be honest. Say what you will but if Haye retired it will be a big character lost in boxing.

 

The BBBoc are almost as out of touch with boxing, as the FA is with football in the UK, and that is really saying something

Haye was selling the fight and gaining interest.

I would far rather have that approach than AJs or Wlads. Which is boring.

I loved how he called the scousers "fking ******s". I don't like Haye but that was epic. The scouse mob was growling and was ready to lynch him on the spot.

 

The BBBofC only care about pound notes. If not why don't they scrap fights for such action ? It's because they want the fight to go ahead so they get their slice of the pie. I remember years ago having a email argument with Robert Smiths predecessor about Scott Harrison getting banned after his first bit of trouble and I said I noticed you sanctioned Mike Tyson coming here to fight and he was a convicted ****** from abroad, surely it's nothing to do with big sanctioning fees !!

 

I don't necessatily think he should face sanctions but I think people are a bit hypocritical to defend him so much.
The fact is, if he'd put Bellew in a coma or killed him, his words would put a very sinister taint on a serious situation.
Fortunately it turned out he wasn't even capable of beating Bellew, nevermind hospitalizing him, so that awkward/sinister scenario was well avoided.
