Exactly. Ruiz landed several jabs, no doubt Wlad will land them faster and harder.

Haye's performance for me was very impressive tonight. He showed composure, accuracy and once again proved he has a genuine big punch at heavyweight.

But Ruiz was able to land his jab almost at will for long periods though admittedly not much else. While Haye has proven he is a genuine top challenger at heavyweight I still would favour both Klitschko's against him. Being able to out speed Valuev and Ruiz is one thing but I can't see him doing the same and outboxing Vitali or Wlad. He will have to adopt a much more aggressive and risky style to have a chance of landing his bombs against either of the brothers.

My point was, his head movement is not good enough to deal with the Klitchkos but I can see his head movement being good enough for the other heavies. He has to use his hands to parry more and throw crisper combos.

Yep, and I'm a Haye fan. It's distressing watching him. He does so many things wrongs.

That would help. But he gets his left hand at knee level, and just tries parrying the jab. And he doesn't use his right hand to parry it with any effectiveness unfortunately.

Wlad's jab, his left hook off of the jab, his footwork, and Haye's tendency to throw off balance will be key. Wlad easily dispatches Haye right now.

Haye also has a stamina issue and will have trouble even landing on Wlad at all. Haye isn't hard to hit. He has great timing and good counterpunching ability, but Wlad is one of, if not THE most hard to hit guys in the heavyweight division. You ain't countering Wladimir with potshots all night.

David has a lot of work to do before that fight to give himself a chance. He is very exciting to watch though. I will be tuning in to his next fights for sure.

Actually, Sanders didn't go in at Wlad straight on the way Brewster and Purrity did. Sanders was setting Wlad up and he lured him into the first good shot. Initially, Wlad was pursuing him up until he got caught with that.

Btw, what's your take on Hopkins-Jones Jr tonight?

I like Haye but he needs to put his hands up and learn to defend better against the Klitschkos or else he's goin to sleep.

Wasn't terribly impressed by his defense.

Sure, Ruiz didn't land a lot of clean shots but he shouldn't have landed as many as he did. Ruiz as we well know is not an explosive puncher. He can knock other heavies out but only by catching them just right.

As thought, Haye's speed was too much for Ruiz to deal with.

Ultimately, this fight tells us nothing of how Haye can beat the Klits. They are very quick and while the bait and counter can work on Vitali (as Sanders showed, who Haye is much better than), it will not work on Wladimir.

To beat Wladimir you have to go right at him, slip his punches and counter exceptionally well. To beat Vitali you have to bait and counter exceptionally well.

Speed will be a wash between Wladimir and Haye. I think they both have good handspeed. The key for Haye is footspeed in that fight. He has to outmanuver Wladimir and land on him at angles Wladimir won't be prepared for. It's going to be difficult if Wladimir elects to grab on the inside which he does much of the time.

This may sound crazy but I think Haye has a better shot at beating Vitali than he does Wladimir.

Saying David Haye will have problems with Wlad's jab is not exactly a bold prediction. That's what you expect. You have a 6'5 guy with a tremendous jab, of course its going to be a major problem to overcome. The major difficulty. He's got to find a way to either make Wlad think twice about putting the jab out there so regularly (by hitting him hard early) or find a way to restrict it from landing and timing it over the top which is very difficult. The first option has to be plan A.

Haye's gotta go out swinging in the first round because Wlad is gun shy and **** scared of getting hit.

He won't see Haye's shots coming and will end up on his arse a lot in this fight

ANYONE will have trouble with a k brothers jab,but if you can get round it you've got a pretty good chance of beating them - imo haye should get on the inside where they cant use that jab,bob and weave tyson style underneath it and look for the big right - no doubt hayes team will have a plan that they think will work but a lot of other people have had plans and failed - will be a great fight if it happens, with two very contrasting styles

I was impressed with Hayes power as always. I watched the bout in a pub/club, and although everyone there was praising everything Haye did, including when he took a punch, I was very concerned about how many jabs Haye took. He is usually quick enough to react and move out of the way of the majority of jabs/punches. But his reactions looked very lethargic, Ruiz is not quick! yet Haye was tagged often with the jab after the 2nd-3rd round. He has to improve his defense/reactions if he is to take on Wlad next, as I see his jab as the best in the sport at the minute.

All Wladimir has is pretty much the jab, and I some fights that's all he uses. I'm sure Haye game plan would be to take his jab away and he could be successful because he already has shown the great movement needed to do so. Haye also has a very powerful counter right, that he could use when Wlad paws with the jab, and make Wlad think twice before throwing.
