If he can get passed John Ruiz in his maiden defense, who would be the safest opponent for him afterwards? I know the fans want to see him tangle with the Klitscho's, but in all fairness and reality, Haye is nowhere near the level of the Klits. For him to continue being WBA champion, who should be his next opponent? The top 15 of the WBA lists Chagaev, Meehan, Valuev, and Boystov to name a few as title challengers. IMHO, Haye should take on the undefeated but untested Boystov after Ruiz and then take on Kali Meehan of Australia. Both are safe opponents.
He'll fight whoever Don King and WBA tell him to fight. Valuev has a rematch clause, Chagaev/Meehan are supposed to have an eliminator, and after that Ruiz should be in line again.
David Haye would EASILY be the best oponent either Klitschko has faced in a good 6-7 years and the fact that he's only had 3 heavyweight fights says something (moreso about the Klitschko's than himself). He's as ready for a Klitschko as any HW out there and I give him a GOOD chance against both of them.
Chagaev, Ibragimov, Byrd, Peter even Thompson and Brock are better hws than Haye as far as Wlad´s last opponents go. Peter, Gomez, Arreola and since you are talking aboput the last 6-7 years Williams and Lewis are better hws than Haye as Vitali´s last opponents go. Haye is decent but not proven enough to be ranked as a better opponent than any of these.
Jesus ! and here i thought you had a ****in clue Tony Thompson !?!?!?!?!? David would be a big , but live , underdog against both brothers but he is ahead of the rest of the pack by a bit. it goes The brothers Haye Everyone else
Posts like this make my brain hurt. Why on earth would you want any titlist to take on safe opponents?
I want to see Haye tested a HW (it's strange that he isn't tested before his Valuev fight) but I don't think it will... The lineup says enough, Ruiz (omfg!), Valuev II, Meehan/Chagaev, and then (that's 2 years later at Haye's rate) the first real test Boystov, who I think will flatten Haye inside 6 rounds.
If i was his promoter it would be these after Ruiz: Chagaev/Meehan then (depending on how well he fared, how much he was tagged, stunned etc), Vitali (if impressive), Boytsov/Valuev (if half-half) or Austin/Solis/Ustinov/Rodriguez (if unimpressive)
If Haye fights and loses to Vitali, Vitali will retire anyway- so Haye could still go on to be the top guy in the division. If he fights and loses to Wlad, there may be potential for a rematch in a couple of years. He should just man up and go for it Someone like Povetkin or Chambers would be a good opponent for Haye though. Neither hit hard enough to really worry him, both are high profile, Povetkin is hittable and Chambers doesn't throw enough. Better fights for him than Arreola for example
