Nah Audley Harrison is the exact opposite. David Haye comes to fight, he's not cautious and he fights with passion. Audley Harrison has mental problems which leave him terrified of being aggressive. Harrison has this very awkward, southpaw style. He has fast hand and a long reach, so he stays out of range and pot-shots with his jab, times for when the opponent is diving in and then lets rip with the big southpaw left on the counter. He always waits for the opponent to step in, which means he spend ages doing **** all. Its a very negative style and it doesn't utilize his physical gifts, his natural power and technical ability. That why we see a 6ft6, 260lbs monster cowering like a little girl against Dominick Guinn and Michael Sprott. Haye on the other hand is nothing like as big and has a totally different style. The guy is skinny compared to Harrison, but he fights like a madman. He leaves the left hand low, enticing the opponent to make a move and snap their jab out, and throws massive right-hand bombs over the top of it. He also likes to charge forward throwing combinations, big bodyshots and uppercuts, he's got massive attacking repetoir. Haye is much more likely to win a world title than Harrison ever was, for the last 8-9 years he's been talked about as Britain's best chance at the Heavyweight title, rather than Audley Harrison. Which shows how much of a ****ing let-down Harrison actually was.
Jury is still out about Haye as Heavyweight but you can't deny a) the man has charisma and is fun to watch b) many fans will want to see his heavyweight journey, however successful it may be. Hell i am much keener to see Haye's next fight than Klitchkos ! c) Haye looks like a fighter, top physique. Been a while since a top heavyweight has looked like a true elite athlete (not saying others aren't or saying that looks make a fighter, but you know what i mean, looking the part attracts fans, it's why Rhianna is the top of the charts and that fat Australian Idol winner Ricki Lee from a few years back faded badly). People want to see attractive people on their tv set. d) He has genuine talent. Sure there are a lot of holes, but he can work on them
with all the discussion one thing we can all agree on pass or fail hayes heavyweight venture is exciting, i was left uninspired watching peter maskaev and klitschko ibragimov
Haye already has won a world title, he is the unified champion at cruiser.... If you mean at heavyweight though, then he certainly is a better chance then harrison. The funny thing is they both look similar, both fight out of the UK, and both have suspect chins. Haye is certainly the better fighter however, as you stated.
Understandably so, it was a couple of very lacklustre performances. The exact reason why the heavyweight division bores me. At its peak, the heavyweight division had good big guys, who could box and move, and would throw combinations. Now its just big freakshows who plod along. Wlad fights like a scared girl, when in reality he is just leagues above anyone else in the division. I like watching the smaller heavies like Chambers and Povetkin fight though, they have decent skills, and throw more then 20 punches a round.
Im sure you guys might think im kidding myself but Haye honestly reminds me of the man in my avatar. Devastating attack, known for their big one punch, apparent shaky chin and eventhough they both always look like they are in great physical condition they have stamina issues. Forget the skin and nationality.lol. Haye should fight john ruiz as his first heavyweight fight for a title eliminator seeing ruiz won this weekend.Completely silence the quiet man for good. Haye aint going to get hurt by ruiz and everytime he goes for the bearhug just pop the mug with the hayemaker. Nice debut at heavyweight.Dominating a former world champion.
Good comparison, apart from skin and nationality obviously. I don't think Haye will have the power that Morrison did at heavy though... But on the upside he is a bit quicker both with his hands and feet. The Quiet man would still be a dangerous first fight due to his akward style, although i would love to see him become much quieter.
I have to disagree. Haye thrives on the challenge and is very vocal about fighters who avoid the big challenge. He always looks to step up, always takes the toughest he can find. While he was a mandatory for the CW title he took on well ranked (though not very good) genuine heavy. He had everthing to lose and did it anyway for shits and giggles. He wouldnt even have been paid much for that. He's unified a division in 21 fights.. thats (almost) unheard of. He wont be looking for easy tune up fights but top 15 guys and big names right from the off. He'll be manadatory on one belt or other in 2 or three fights max.... if he keeps winning of course.
When i said Audley i was more talking about his appearance and the fact he could have a shaky chin. Something about Haye just oozes "short term" to me.
At least something exciting has come out of the UK :yep We can all agree he is a breath of fresh air and Australian boxer MArk Da Man De Mori wants to fight him first :deal
I dont know much about Haye but what i hear about Steve Cunninham is that he is abig threat to David...... i could have herd the wrong thing though
