Wow, that's rough on Haye to be sure (and I'm no fan of his). If it was getting worse like that over weeks though, I would think he'd want more than 3 weeks extra. Take a month off and do nothing then rebuild carefully making sure there are no tweaks. Take a fight in September so he can be at his best then try Wlad again in the spring. By then Wlad can get Povetkin out of the way and we can hopefully have a real good fight.

It seems more like it'll take longer than 3 weeks for Haye to heal up.

I am really gutted that this fight is not going ahead now. Going by what Wlad has said, it seems that he's not gonna wait any longer. Been looking forward to this fight since last year. Ah well, life's a *****.

If Haye never gets another shot like this then he will have had one more opportunity of a lifetime than all of us common folk will ever hope of having. Speaking for myself, I don't like the nature of the back injury excuse. I have back problems myself so I know how serious they can be, but generally, with back problems you can stand up, walk, or you can't. Stinks to me, but I'm a bit let down I acknowledge.

Maybe someone with medical training will wander in and make this clear but this doesn't add up. A 'scan'? I think those will only show something like a herniated disk or something similar in the back. If that is the case, 3 weeks ain't gonna happen. I've had injections for those and in the first instance the relief came overnight. Second time, not so much. But the underlying problem would have had the doctor telling me my ring days were over I'm sure.

    Having scoliosis,degenerative bone disease,
and Rheumatoid arthritis I live with pain everyday. Specially back pain.

If a scan was involved I would think
it was a general X-ray to get a look at the spine. A compressed vertebrae. Which if major will take about 3-5 weeks of therapy.

One can also just pinch a nerve
which as your muscles get more and more tense worsens. This would be a pretty immediate fix by a chiropractor.

    Lastly.
It also takes a few weeks to get substances out of your blood stream.

Last weekend I move 12 9 foot long railroad ties.
(180-200lbs each) Fixing my wife's garden. The first one hurt let alone the last one. But I endured.
