big punching? in 5 rounds he had landed all that he had on bellew (the CW who was dropped by the small CW makabu and taken out by a light heavyweight) and it didn't even effect bellew. Maybe he was a big puncher few years ago but now he's just fighting for fame and fortune, he wouldn't beat Dillian Whyte let alone AJ or Fury.
The Bellew fight clearly doesn't count. How anyone can say Haye 'landed all he had on Bellew' and keep a straight face I will never know. Clearly he was badly injured before the fight. Could hardly put weight on his ankle during the ringwalk, which was one of the slowest ever, and was dragging it around during the fight before it completely went. Now if people truly believe Haye gave Bellew all he had, then I suggest they are going to be in for one hell of a shock in the rematch. I hope they put their money where their mouth is on the exchanges also, so I can pick up some easy dough. Haye is 1/3 at the moment. All those who think Haye 'gave all he had' should be lumping on Bellew as he is 5/2. Please do, I would love my odds to get to 3/5 - 4/6 or better so I can lump on.
I don't know where the evidence is of him being a "big punching heavyweight" since his come back he's knocked out a youtube boxer and the bloke from kosovo - I'd back Dave Allen to knock them both out! Let alone Whyte, Dubois etc.
where does haye being a 'big puncher' come from? he was powerful at CW but he only has 1 impressive KO at heavyweight against Chisora. Please don't talk about his 2 comeback fights against a youtube taught australian and the maggot who had never thought outside of switzerland, bellew a CW took his shots for 5 rounds before his achilies went, audley harrison was a fraud and the ruiz is a decent knockout but he was shot and WK boxed a prime haye's head off and didnt ever look in trouble or hurt.
Jeez, the Haye hate has reached new levels...his KO ratio speaks for itself. Knocked out plenty of durable fighters including at heavyweight...Ruiz ordinarily durable, yes he was done but still tough...Chisora speaks for himself, you don't knock him out unless you are a serious puncher...plenty have tried and failed...let's get real... I'm not saying he's going to come back and be a world beater...but to deny he is a dangerous puncher when fit is just dumb... Btw...I'd be tempted to have a gamble on Bellew...I expect Haye to win but Noone knows how fit he is going to be... He clearly got injured in camp for the first fight but felt he could win anyway...and to be fair had his Achilles not gone I think he'd have won on points quite comfortably or perhaps got to Bellew later on when he was easier to hit and the poor footwork as a result of the injury less of an issue... I hope he comes back as does the business, would mean some big all British fights ahead...
Its out in the open that he was injured going in to the fight..If he wasnt already known for pulling out of fights I think he would've with Bellew. I'd say he was punching 60-70% with what he can. If he went in fit, you know Bellew gets layed out with ease. You cant be a big puncher then turn in to a non puncher as you suggest, there has to be a reason for it, and there was HE WAS INJURED !!!!!
he was a big puncher at cruiserweight, not at heavyweight, he only has 1 good Ko at HW (Chisora), also when you get older you do lose your punch power you idiot. look at pacman, hasnt stopped an opponent in like 8 years as he is getting older. His foot looked fine before the 6th round, just accept that he isn't what he was and he was never a great heavyweight. even if he was not 100% this 'big puncher' in haye should have at least hurt the 'pumped up light heavyweigh' in bellew.
People are deluded if they think hayes not a big puncher. He hardly landed on bellew. It was clear to see there was other problems even barring the injury. One he didnt really hit him with much. Too predictable. He was too slow. After swinging like a maniac and not being able to hit bellew for whatever reason...he reverted to trying to box after that. Was the only way he could actually land. Now a lot think it was the injury. I believe that i think it was an ongoing problem from as far back as the comeback...he was dragging his feet in them as well either the injury or mcguigan messed up his footwork. Either way hayes problem has nothing to do with punch power. If you believe that your either blinded by hate or you dont have a clue about boxing. Davids bigger problem is being able to land that power...this new guy might be able to help with that. The powers still there tho...even just look at him smashing tha pads. Then come on here and read back what some have wrote. Hes not a big puncher. Its a pretty silly thing to say because the evidence is pretty much right before your eyes.
Chisora is tough as ****, his main attribute, Haye sparked him, when nobody could. Aint that telling you he can bang ?????? I know your a ****** so i'll explain it to you. From the opening bell his back leg wasn't right, pointing at an exaggerated angle. That leg that we are on about is where he gets his speed and leverage from, the spring if u like. Now if you know its not right and could go on you, you wont be putting any confidence in it. Therefore your pretty much ****ed if the other fella is competent....But haters don't like the facts Pedley u moron
"His foot looked fine before the 6th round"... Do you really believe this? You sat there watching and genuinely thought his foot was ok? It's open knowledge that he had to go to Germany days before the fight to get his Achilles assessed. Bellew and Coldwell knew Haye was injured. Haye walked the ring walk at a snail's pace. Haye had zero balance. Was throwing arm punches and wild haymakers all night. You have to be a proper spastic to be unable to see that Haye went into this fight injured and he snapped his Achilles completely at a point where he was ahead on points. Enough said.
Spencer fearon was saying it was common knowledge amongst the boxing fraternity the week before the fight. The fact that Bellew was still there after 3 rounds should of told everyone there was problems.
It's 2017 and people are still saying David Haye's going to make waves in the heavyweight division. .. ? It just seems so unrealistic to expect much from David Haye at this point in time. I just can't see any rationale behind those expectations. He's done NOTHING since 2012. And in most of that time he's done everything to prove the point that he's a finished/injured boxer. And even at his best 2009-2012 he never proved he was capable of beating the best heavyweights. He was outclassed by Wlad and barely outpointed Valuev. His best win is over Dereck Chisora, and that was YEARS ago. There's just no substance to the idea of a dominant Heavyweight David Haye. Not 7 years ago.... and certainly not now. And he's going to e coming off a TKO loss to Tony Bellew, at 37 years old. Whatever the circumstances, the fact alone shows he's not a threat to the heavyweight divison. REALITY is stacked against him. And while I wouldn't expect his loyal fans to accept reality - whatever happens there will always be excuses - Haye himself needs to accept it before he gets hurt.
... Having said all that, Haye's a personality and can still add something to the domestic scene. Rematch with Bellew would be worth a shot, and there will be some young prospects coming through in the next few months who he'd have a chance against at an early stage (Dubois, Okolie).
Haye would bodybag Okolie and Dubois on the same night. I hope he can somehow engineer a crack at the WBA against Oquendo, Ustinov or Browne or something like that, even though I concede he wouldn't deserve the shot.
