Yeah I think boxing needs personalities like Tony Bellew but the way he goes on about beating David Haye as if he was 100% fit even before the injury is disgraceful and embarrassing really. I dksab and even I knew something was wrong during the ringwalk; you could just tell from that weird look on his face. The worst thing was that Bellew couldn't even knock him out.

Bellew looked poor even against a 1 legged haye, and he completely gassed. If haye's achilles didn't completely snap he'd have beat bellew on points easily even though he was carrying an injury. Maybe even have knocked him out due to bellew gassing.

At the moment, certainly. 12 months from now, maybe. But that's his level now, at best. Expose a few prospects if he's lucky. A gatekeeper role on the domestic scene, if he's lucky.

He got beat by Tony Bellew and I'm pretty sure you were telling everyone he's "bodybag" Bellew too.

A REAL FORCE on the world heavyweight stage would murder Bellew in 1 or 2 rounds, bad foot or not. That's the reality.

No fighter with a snapped Achilles is murdering anyone. Hayes body language to me was him playing it safe with the injury, knowing it could go at any time. Once it went he went for broke, but couldn't put any pressure on his leg so no speed and no power.

    Precisely.

He threw the wild haymakers totally off balance in rounds 1-2 clearly because he knew he was walking on borrowed time. Once he got to the mid-rounds comfortably ahead on points he realised he didn't have the balance to land a KO shot on Bellew and tried to ride out the 12 rounds. He was getting his timing sorted and his jabs, especially to the body, were winning him the fight and actually gassing Bellew which is something all Haye haters conveniently overlook.

Then his achilles unfortunately snapped and the rest is history. It was one of the worst and most unconvincing wins I've ever seen because Bellew gassed himself and was unable to properly take out a man who couldn't walk.

Okay, that's your take, but what you're describing is a man who is NOT to be seen as a real force in the heavyweight division
You're describing a man who's so routinely ravaged by injury he enters the ring incapable of even putting up a winning performance against an average-cruiser-type.

Personally, I think those two bums Haye beat in 2016 may well have been KO'd by this Bellew-version of Haye too. I think that very likely.
I've seen no evidence that Haye's been right at all since he declared he had career ending injuries several years ago.

It may not have been a convincing win on Bellew's, but it sure as hell was a convincing LOSS on Haye's part.
What exactly does he have to do to convince you he's done ?

As for "wild haymakers" they've been part of his arsenal for years. It's only now he's broken down physically and skills eroded that it's become a pathetic flaw. Maybe his style and punching techniques contrbuted to his various injuries to start with. Or maybe it's simple misfortune.
Whatever it is plain to see he's finished now. No need to speculate we saw the results last time out in the ring.

 I'd love to see how he is going to do that.

I honestly believe the best Haye can hope for is getting a win in a rematch against Bellew before beating the likes of a whyte or chisora.

That would hardly be proving anyone wrong.

Bellew has apparently put the same offer to Haye that Bellew had to accept for the first fight take place. Haye is apparently stalling on accepting it. If Haye's body can cope with another training camp then this has got to be the fight he has to take if he's to get another crack at a heavyweight champion....it could happen.

I wasn't convinced Haye was going to win the first fight because of what should have been the career ending shoulder injury, the inactivity and his age. I only reference his age because his main weapons was his speed, timing and power (which made up for his lack of height/size) and biology says that these things deteriorate with age. I also thought the pressure was on him to produce the huge knockout and that would pile up has each round passed.

He needs to evolve as a fighter if he's any chance of winning a belt again. He needs to focus less on producing devastating knockouts and instead focus on patiently winning rounds behind the jab. He's surely got to sacrifice some muscle mass too to take the pressure of them feet and legs. IF he comes back (and I hope he does) weighing in at 16 stone and promising quick knockouts then Bellew will beat him once again.

Given his age, inactivity and the number of injuries he's had... I can't see him making too much noise going forward.

He went into the Bellew fight carrying that achilles injury... I remember the week leading up to the fight it got leaked and he made out it was a load of bollocks (as you do..) and then it snapped on him in the fight, he showed a lot of balls that night.

But at the end of the day, I don't see his body holding up to more 12 week training camps and 12 round fights against the elite in the HW division. It couldn't hold up for a fight against a blown up Cruiser who he would have steam rolled a few years previously.

Both fighters you've mentioned won legitimate world titles and in the case of Khan at two weights. What more should they have done? Been undefeated and done what Pac and May have done?. Too many people have unrealistic expectations. If a fighter wins a legit world title and defends it a couple of times then full ****ing credit. Its more than me and you have done and defo gives them bragging rights.

Winning a rematch with Bellew followed by retirement would be a perfectly good end for Haye at this stage.

it is one thing getting to the top and another staying there...

Haye and Khan fell off a cliff and will both go broke

I'd say that Haye is still a very big puncher. I was an unused sparring partner for 2 days last year but a good friend of mine who did 4 rounds with him said that Haye's jabs felt like crosses and that he couldn't wait to get out of the ring. Saying that, I think it's been over for him since he came back. His body is glass

I agree, Do we think the rematch would happen tho?

I think both need the rematch for there reputation.

but right now, I am not sure it will... i get the sense that David Haye will be looking to go another route one where he doesnt need to give up so much money for a rematch... he his rumoured to be going to be partnering with ITV for the hayemaker/ringstar promotions, cant see him then going to fight on sky. He's also still a draw which i guess alot of people will still want to fight maybe even more so now.

I think in defeat in many ways David Haye still came out of the fight better than Bellew and as a result has more options... David Haye moved somewhat away from the idea that he had no heart by fighting on with an obvious injury. He proved he can still draw the crowds and i think most people but the fight down to the injury being the deciding factor not bellew being better.

Whereas, I think Bellew comes out of it worse... If he doesnt get the haye rematch to set the record straight he is likely to be used as cannon fodder for Parker or Wilder which he would a smaller fight for much less money.

Tony Bellew has already achieved well beyond expectations so while he may not have a load of great realistic options now, he's set himself up nicely enough.

David Haye's MILES away from where he'd like to be, let's face it.
Maybe, maybe if he's lucky he'll get sent for next year by Hearn and used by AJ as Audley was used by him many years ago. He sells a fight well. He'd get blown away but have some limelight again.

His other options are taking up the role of a plucky warrior veteran in second-rate fights, which is pretty much where losing to Bellew (albeit courageously) has taken him. Respected, but clearly now to everyone obviously not top level.
