Here's hoping Lemieux is less Steve Molitor and more Lucien Bute.

Steve Molitor....Yeeesh. There's one hype train I'm not proud of getting on.

Well, Lemieux looks more like Caballero than Molitor. Not in height, obviously, but in his approach. He wants to kill. I would be very surprised to see Lemieux be afraid of an opponent like Molitor against Caballero.

I don't see this fight going very far. Lemieux has so much power than even a tough journeyman can't survive a full fight against him. His next goal should be against someone slicker, able to avoid to be hit.

I don't like the way GYM manage its fighters' careers. On the one hand, you got boxers like David Lemieux fighting 7-8 times a year but against cab drivers every single time and on the other hand, you have Lucian Bute (with Interbox) whose 21st fight was for the IBF strap. And who is Lemieux fighting in his 21st pro bout? A guy who's 18-11-1.

    Yawn.

That's good to hear at least. I thought Molitor was outstanding coming into the Caballero fight. He had great boxing skills and I thought his timing was superb. Al Bernstein was trying to say Molitor was a top 10 P4P-er.

Then he **** the bed

meh. GYM managed Pascal's career and he fought for a title in his 22nd pro fight. Ngoudjo fought CAstillo in his 16th fight. Lontchi fought for a title against JuanMa in his 21st pro fight. I don't knw where you are getting your info but you need to do more research.

Naugler is a tough and big guy. Plus this will be a SMW fight cuz Naugler can't make 160, while Lemieux could probably make 154 easily. He's almost a natural LHW and he's way bigger than Lemieux, so it's gonna be hard for David to knock him out (Naugler was stopped only once, maybe from a cut).

That being said, this is a step-up for Lemieux.

Lontchi was only there for the pay check, so that's another story. Nobody really gave him any kind of chance against Juanma. N'Goudjo though is probably the only GYM fighter that has faced good opposition early in his career.

Jean Pascal might have gotten a title shot in his 22nd pro fight, but who did he face before that that is even worth mentioning? Omar Pittman? Brian Norman? The former middleweight Kingsley Ikeke? I'm not saying Pascal isn't talented, but he has a padded record like most GYM promoted fighters.

Actually, it's Lemieux who can't make the weight.

That is pretty much my opinion. Lemieux will gain nothing other than keeping that fancy looking record by fighting guys that are easy to hit. He needs to take on someone with a slick defense and see if he can break them down. Everyone knows he has the power but does he have the craft to outsmart an awkward fighter. I would like to see him fight someone like Craig McEwan by this time next year. Then we will see what he is really made of. He looks a fantastic talent. Almost like a middlewight Tyson. The type of fighter that will put the fear of God in his opponent.

The difference is the age. Lemieux is only 21 and needs more experience. Bute was 26 or 27 at the time of fight no.21. And Bute had a larger amateur pedigree too.

Actually, it's Lemieux who couldn't make 160 because he followed one of his trainer, Pedro Diaz from Dominican Republic to Germany back to Montreal and couldn't lose the extra pounds. His group said that the next fight would go back to 160.

Exactly what I have thought last time i've seen Lemieux. This guys always fight complete garbage but at least he destroy them. They should put him against Jacobs or Lee to get a good test. Right now he's going nowhere and Naugler is not much better, tough guy but slow and not very skilled.
