no one has stopped fabian rios, and he has a draw with heiland. i'm sure the no stoppages thing was the attraction.

Lemieux is just getting his groove back.

Amazing how folks will excuse any number of bums faced as "tune ups" by Ward et al, but when it comes to a GGG victim (and this is 100% what this is about) coming off a brutal stoppage, there's no time for a couple of soft touches. Naw, Lemieux has to go back in time to fight a prime Hagler or he's a joke?

    GTFOH.

when ward faces "tuneups" or "bums" its because theres something big behind it....ward/kovalev ring a bell?!?!

when i bag on golovkin i always hear "look at the big picture and the whole situation".....why wont you do that with ward? ward missed like 2 years of fights(being paid)....so he comes back and is going to fight kovalev....so ward thinks to himself "hmmm hbo really wants this fight eh....well im going to make them pay me 2 mil to spar some easy work who ill pay 30k to...if they really want this fight they gonna have to pay me"........it was actually pretty smart of ward....he didnt need that brand fight for anything IMO....but he made hbo pay him....

i hate to bag on any pro fighter in a serious manner...so i wont call lemieux a bum here...but hes not good...hes not a good fighter...sorry

    1) I forgive Ward his "tune-ups" for facing Kovalev. Just as I don't mind Lemieux taking a few easy ones after the beating he got against Golovkin
    2) Lemieux was a champion. He's a good fighter and he's not done yet. Give him a chance, he'll be back.

I think he's an ok to good fighter....just not "very good" in it's lightest sense

Ya he's not done ....I guess I'll let it play out and see where it goes

But with ward...that's the difference....he's made big fights...that's why he gets a pass for bum fights .....we're still waiting for Golvokin to get a real step up fight ......he blew his chance imo with ward at 168

I know Golovkin and his fans wants to blame everyone else under the sun...after some time u have to look at the common denominator

alot of these guys man..im tellin ya.....you bag on ggg with reason...and they wanna start talking about andre ward and his "tuneups"....theres a clear cut difference...ward has made good fights....its a glaring, obvious, difference....but for some reason these guys still get defensive and wanna mention ward.....its a classic knee jerk reaction but its terrible......if ggg had fought ward at 168 he wouldnt be getting any gruff...win or lose........the guy still hasnt landed a good fight

Lemieux just fought the toughest guy @ 160. If it's Ok for Ward to face Brand, then surely it's OK for Lemieux to face a couple of easy ones after that one? If he carries on fighting stiffs, then sure, I'll agree with the sarcasm.

They say Golovkin is only an average sized MW , but he was huge compared to Lemmie and Lemmie has trouble making the weight :qmeparto:

He was going to fight Stevens but HBO wasn't willing to pay the bill. Lemieux is willing to fight, he fought for a championship contender fight at 22, than faced a former champion his next fight, then, when he got a belt and could have milked it in Montreal for years, he went for GGG who many are ducking. In this day and age, Lemieux reserve respect for his willingness to fight and the only reason why he is not today fighting a good opponent is due to economical reason (PBC is almost broke and both Showtime and HBO are pulling the plug on boxing). The only reason OP made his thread was not because of Lemieux, but GGG.

The anti GGG crusade also envelopes his opponents. Now if you lose to him expect to be branded with boxing version of the scarlet letter. Forever micromanaged and castigated for having the audacity to fight one of the sports best, while in retrospect ducking GGG via divaesque demands gets you adulation and praise from the very same cast of toxic creatures.

A repulsive dynamic fit for the most porcine among us.

    Thanks HBO...

This should have been Lemieux-Stevens, and that match-up would have made this whole month worthwhile.
