Lemieux's longest sparring session pre-Rubio was 7 rounds :deal

...as opposed to now, where Lemieux had 12 sparring sessions with Jean Pascal.

    *****************************************************

In preparation for the Rosado fight, Lemieux sparred 12 rounds a number of times with former light heavyweight titleholder Jean Pascal.

“When you spar with Jean Pascal, you’re not going to knock him out in six rounds,” Ramsey said. “You have to deal with boxing technique for 12 rounds against a tough guy who is two weight categories over him and has a very good chin.

“That’s a challenge, not only in terms of toughness but also in terms of ability.”

Gomez @ GBP was talking about how Jacobs-Lemieux at the Barclays would be a great event... I think that's the only MW title holder David can beat, mind you getting outboxed all night but shaking Jacobs the way Pirog did.

Unless there is an Amir Khan at 160 I see it unlikely he gets a belt. then again he could be a B+ level champ and defend the title in canada until he is forced to step up. kinda like an Eric Lukas

Triangle theory says Rosado wins - Rubio beat Lemieux, Rosado did better than Rubio against GGG.

My brain says Rosado is tough enough to handle this and will survive the fireworks and beat him with better form.

My gut says that Lemieux will blow him out early like Angulo did.

    Tough to call...

OK, he doesn't necessarily say early, but,
Most people assume there will be fireworks in this bout considering your fighting styles. But do you think there's potential for this to turn into a tactical fight?
Oh no, I'm going to force action, and I'm going to force a battle. The fans are going to get what they want, what they're hoping for and what they deserve -- an action-packed fight. I'm going to make sure of it. I don't come to be a boxer, I come to show that it's life or death in there. I'm an all or nothing guy, and I'm going in there for war. It's going to be a great fight. Nobody is going to be disappointed.

And Fernando Guerrero is the definition of china chinned. He has been down 9 times in the last 3 fights and knocked out twice.

Vera is a crued, slow, awkward clubbing fighter. Don't let that glorified bar fight fool you. Rosado is not that good.

Here is the way I see this fight.

Rosado doesn't have the type of high level boxing skills that will win him big fights. If you look at the GGG and Quillin fights he basically used fast feet to stay out of punching range, making it difficult for those two power punchers to set up their offense. He also through a lot of shots that fell short and were meant to disrupt his opponents rhythm. They weren't intended to score. More just to look busy and dangerous in an effort to stay in the fight. That isn't to say he wasn't making an effort or that all he was doing was hoping and praying for the final bell. No, I'm just making the observation that against punchers Rosado doesn't have the skills that would allow him to safely set up his offense in a way that would win rounds or do any meaningful damage to his opponent. He makes fundamental mistakes that prevent him from punching when his opponent is set to punch. He doesn't use angles or head movement when he punches. And he keeps his hands low and doesn't bring them back to a defensive position quickly. The result is that when his opponent is on offense he has to stay on defense. Also because of these deficiencies he is hesitant to step into his jab and use it as an opponent controlling weapon. The jab is the easiest punch in boxing to counter but is the most affective if it is done properly. His only hope in this fight is to establish his Jab early. But because of the of aforementioned deficiencies I doubt his ability to do this. If is lucky and can establish a jab early I only can see him surviving till midway through the fight before being chopped down.

Lots of other people on this thread have talked about the changes that Lemieux has made in his preparation since the Rubio loss so I won't add anything more. I'll just say that he has made the changes he needed to make and I believe that he is now ready to step up to A level.

Lemieux is a charismatic, explosive, white, power puncher from a big money boxing market. He's learned the lessons that he had to learn and now the money men in boxing are ready to cash in on him.

Rosado went rounds against both GGG and Quillin but they are both cautious, patient power punchers. They take their time breaking down their opponents. Lemieux is a seek and destroy guy. If GGG had the same mentality he probably would have blasted out Rosado in 2 rounds. Yes Rosado bleeds a lot. Yes he has a good chin. And yes he has charisma. But in all of his step up fights when it came time to trade blows with his opponents he always came out on the ass end of the exchanges. I don't expect that to change Saturday night. My prediction is that Rosado gets blown out in under 4 rounds.

lemieux by ko in round 4-5....

ggg may be miles ahead of lemieux in skill, and has bricks for fists...but ggg tends to start slow and pick his opponent apart(generally)...lemieux's style is a ko style, he likes to get in close and exchange bombs, he bobs and weaves and comes up off that bobbing and weaving similar to tyson, and has power to go with it...ggg is smarter in the sense that he will box and learn his opponent a bit then break him down

i think lemieux comes in early and very hard and swift, to prove a point and make a name for himself while fighting in NY...rosado has not much power in my eyes, but he is quick and can move, which is his only chance in this fight is to move and try to outbox lemieux from the outside with speed and movement and not let lemieux set up or get on the inside...

i think lemieux's style and power will land him an early ko

Great posts guys. I'm not as optimistic as you are on the early KO, although I do think David will get the stoppage.

He told an RDS reporter today that he would know what to do with Rosado after the first round and that he's not just going all in with no defense from the start... Yvon Michel told that same reporter that they expect Rosado to try and control distance until such point that they think David will gas, but David sparred several 12 rounders in camp - I'm not worried about conditioning. People also underestimate Marc Ramsey's ability to put together solid gameplans.
