David Lemieux would be the man at 160 if it was not for Golovkin

GGG at MW is just one example.

Here's another: When US based bums like Sam Peter, John Ruiz and James Toney held some ABC trinkets in the 2004/2005 period the US media and boxing fans were full of praise and acknowledgement for the division. Once Wlad Klitschko cleaned up the belts and denigrated US fighters to mere journeymen the division became 'weak' overnight.

Suddenly they brought up the infamous excuse that all the good US talent is in basketball and football. I really get tired of these excuses. If your fighters aren't up to par don't label the division weak. This might come as a surprise to some Americans who couldn't find Canada on a map, but the world is bigger than just the 50 states.

Wlad came after the fact. He was losing to Purrity and Brewster and knocked down by Williams and Peter and didn't become the man until Lewis retired. Foh with pathetic agenda ridden outlook lmao.

You know there's nationalists in every nation? Don't let it bother you. It used to bother me. Nations typically hype their guy because they want something to stand behind. Middleweight is underrated, yes, but let's not over rate it to compensate. People are getting too hyped on the Lemieux victory now.

may sound like an excuse to you...but lets be honest...LeBron james in a boxing gym from the age of 7 would destroy just about anyone...most American heavyweights are washed up ex COLLEGE football players who couldn't hack in the nfl.......youd really hate to see what someone like Khalil mack or the Bennett brothers could in the boxing ring if they trained in a gym since age 8...it would be bad....I bet someone like joey bosa now, with a couple of years of training, could be a problem....the best athletes in the US do NOT box....plain and simple

its funny the insecurity of UK boxing fans...like Anthony Joshua? I get it..hes a big deal....hes basically what youd get if you carved a heavyweight or created one in a video game....hes got a bright future in the sport

but lets take even just joey bosa...the guy is 6-6 270lbs without hardly any body fat....you put that guy in a boxing gym for 10-12 years and hed be a force.....theres 50 or so guys like that in the NFL...Joshua would look like just another guy

Nah. You made that up. Never happened.

The post Ali HW era was deemed weak and that was fronted by an American dominator.

DL win was good but I´m positively surprise how much praise he gets from it. I said over a year ago he would be champion one day after Golovkin moves up. I don´t mind, he has earned some respect for facing Golovkin when he could have done the same thing as El Pollo and Saunders did - duck and run.

With all of the limitations (stamina, boxing ability) he has some very good weapons on his arsenal. With right game plan he can beat anyone not named Golovkin at 160. So yes, he would be the man at 160 at the moment and he probably will be after two years time, post Golovkin era.

I've been thinking that Lem should go to 168. He's had problems making weight before (I think a problem with dedication) so I imagine a move to a bigger weightclass would benefit him.

Lemieux was contained by Golovkin's jab. He bad no answer for it. Anyone with a good skill set will trouble him including I feel Canelo.

No it does not. The A level fighters adapt. Others never learn from their mistakes.

How do you know that? That's a baseless assumption. Boxing is much more than athleticism. The heavyweights with basketball builds/frames tend to be pathetic glass jawed hypejobs who get exposed at the world stage. Likewise with the Football players you bring up, those guys are all jokes too. Of course the NFL has probably taken guys who could have been Americas next great HW, but that's always been the case.

Do you think Ali, Foreman, Louis, Liston, Lewis, Tyson etc. would have all been great in the NBA or NFL? Of course not. Boxing is a different sport.
