give the kid a break. He fought 8 times in 2009 and he will probably do the same in 2010. Amber told the media that he planned on making Lemieux fight for the canadian title and hopefully, by the end of the year, having him fight for a continental title. I know the also want to clear the Montreal scene ( Walid Smichet, Renand St-Juste...) i think he will be ready for a major belt in about 3 years ( at his rythm, that means 18 to 20 fights ). so if you're angry now....
Do you not understand the difference between someone who has extensive amateur experience and someone who turned pro at 18 without much amateur experience? All the guys you mentioned (other than Henry, whose opposition is much worse than Lemieux's) have extremely extensive international amateur experience, so there are big parts of the fight game they don't need to learn, because they already know it. For a top amateur, the prospect period is used just for proving heart, chin and stamina, but for a kid who wasn't a top amateur (he was a high level junior amateur, but he wasn't fighting the top tier of amateurs), he actually needs to learn how to BOX and that takes time. Smith-Lemieux I could see. That would be a good one. Antoine Smith is in a similar boat, where he's been learning on the job, but he's a fast learner. Really crafty and displays a ton of ring smarts for someone as inexperienced as he is.
