David Morell Jr vs Jaime Munguia 168

Fights between Mexicanos and Cubanos have tended to favor the Mexicanos in the pros....

 

Morrell stoppage 5-8 rounds. Morrell fought at light heavyweight in the amateurs and he’s much stronger than Munguia who’s a natural 154 pounder. Munguia has no head movement and porous defense, add Mexican machismo and their expectations to fight Toe to Toe, it’s a recipe for disaster.

 

Morrell might be too much for Munguia, but I wouldn't full count him out, but we've see bigger upsets in boxing. I wouldn't be surprised if somehow Munguia found the target and came away with the victory.

 

I haven't seen one fight that makes me think Munguia is anything other than a road kill for Morrell. I think Morrell is probably next up. Not ready for Canelo or Benavidez but probably ready for everyone else in the top 10 at SMW

 

Hard to pick Morrell based on only 10 fights.

 

morell is a killer if he can take a shot hes got the best skills all around at smw by far.

Munguia has poor defense. He can get away with it against over-the-hill fighters and feather fisted fighters, but not against the top fighters of the division.

 

I don't think Morrel will have an issue neutralizing Mungia's power. Once that is gone, Mungia is a walking punching bag.

 

This is what I noticed against Ryder. Munguia had a habit of stepping back to evade punches which is all fine and dandy, but against Morrel that wont work. I've seen a little of him but so far it seems Morrell knows how to use his size to catch smaller guys who try to run away once he has them backing up. I think Morrel catches him with something big by the mid-rounds.

 

I rate Morrell and therefore pick him for sure.

He does only have ten fights which would be the main argument to the contrary.

 

Munguia's technical defense is his relentless offensive assault.
Munguia by tko in the later rounds.

 

I favor Morrell but Munguia is tough as nails.

 

No way this fight happens unless Morell signs to golden boy. Even then I have my doubts Oscar cashes in Munguias shiny record on Morell. But for the sake of this thread, Morell ref stoppage victory in round 11.
