A few interesting lines from both guys here, starting with Price....

"I haven't been randomly tested since I turned pro," Price told BBC Sport.

"Not once in three-and-a-half years. I have had urine tests before title fights, but I'd like to see more random blood testing.

"I know expense is an issue, but more could be done, especially in light of what happened with Larry Olubamiwo.

"He was taking every drug under the sun and that could have ended up in disastrous consequences for someone, given the nature of the sport."

    Now Robert Smith :nut:patsch

BBBofC general secretary Robert Smith said the programme of testing the board has in place is "adequate at the present time".

"We have 850 boxers and over the last two or three years we've done almost 200 out-of-competition tests," Smith told BBC Sport.

"We test every single championship contest, we test randomly on undercard fights and if we hear anything, obviously, we will go and test people. :rofl

"It's not just dope testing we have to look after; there are many other things that have to be funded.- such as?

    -------------------------------------------------

It seems that still, the board are doing almost nothing to try and curb drug use in boxing.

We've already heard Curtis Woodhouse say on here that he's not been randomly tested in SIX YEARS as a pro boxer.

Now - I'm not saying that fighters should have to inform testers when they are taking a **** or off to Tesco's, but surely there's more that can be done?

In an ideal world, every fighter licensed by the BBBoC should be subject to random, all year round blood & urine tests.

The current levels of testing are clearly inadequate & easy to beat, the BBBoC need to be much more active about this issue.

Maybe promoters need to contribute more to it

How many of you that don’t agree with drugs in sport watched the Garcia vs Morales fight on Sunday morning? There’s only one way to stop this from happening and that’s by protesting with your remote and credit card.

For the fighters, they should do what Nonito Donaire has done. Signed himself up for random out of competition testing funded by himself to prove he is clean. Other fighters should follow his lead and then it will start to become obvious who is clean and who is not.

    David Haye vs Derek Chisora

Had to undergo random drug testing, by a WADA accredited German based Anti Doping Agency.

    BBBoFC need to sharpen up!

Boxers should not have to ****ing pay for their own drug tests, that's the organisations and governing bodies job. If sports such as Athletics, Swimming, Cycling can fund drug testing, so can boxing!

I wish boxing had 1 governing body that could manage and administer these tests, as well as licence boxers, etc.

As Price said, the nature of the sport, is it fair that somebody who is clean goes in against somebody who has doped, and gets beaten up. It's not fair at all, as genuinely it's a sport that can kill. Indeed, it is a pretty absurd notion that somebody who maybe hitting somebody hard on the head for 40 odd minutes, isn't drug tested.

This needs to happen, luckily for us the BBBofC have complete control of British boxing, they sanction all the fights and license the fighters. This should make it easier for them to implement random testing across the board.

It's not like the US where things are done on a state by state basis and there's no national body to enforce these things.

Btw, Price isn't the first one who's spoken out about never been randomly tested. Pretty sure Bellew or Curtis Woodhouse said a similar thing recently.

"We have 850 boxers and over the last two or three years we've done almost 200 out-of-competition tests," Smith told BBC Sport.

So basically 1 in 10 fighters get tested outside of competition each year. No wonder so many are prepared to take a risk knowing the can get off the gear before a fight. Surely the license fee could cover one random test per boxer per year.

  11. So we should have cancelled BoxNation as a protest for Morales being able to fight at the weekend? And that would solve the problem of PEDs in boxing?

Maybe we should have watched the other fights, because they all passed tests, and just turned off when Morales and Garcia was on? That could work.

I was never tested in 10 years - despite my weight (naturally)increasing by 30lbs of muscle. I know I was pretty irrelevant but that's not the point - you should be tested. I'm pretty certain I could name some fighters who juice no probs. I wouldn't because that's up to them - but every victory must feel so empty.
