Price may have one of the biggest punches in the division but lets have it right, he is scared to fight and his chin is awful. He's got a rep now, every boxer knows if you put him under pressure and land a semi decent shot he will crumble
He comes across as a real decent guy and we all know that he possesses a rocket of a right hand but I think he has to seriously re-evaluate where he's going now. Firstly when he turned pro, there's no doubt in my eyes that he was mismanaged. He's a powerful guy and they put him in with opponents that he smashed to pieces.... But in doing that he didn't learn anything, work on anything that he'd be doing in the gym etc. They then put him on with Thompson & the gulf in class that he's been fighting up until that point meant that he wasn't ready and out of his depth. Now he seems to fight more hesitant with less intensity because in the back of his mind he's not sure if he can do the full duration of a fight at a high work rate... So he's almost stumbling when it comes to pulling the trigger. Last night he should have been looking to keep the fight at range with the jab and then fire the right hand down the pipe when the opportunity presented itself but he was unable to carry it out. There are still fights out there for him and with that right hand of his, he'd always have at least a punchers chance but there's a lot of holes in his game that given his age and where he's at, I don't think can be ironed out. His defence was very leaky to allow that left hook in, he just didn't see it coming and it was a bad KO.
It wasn't long ago this British forum was hailing Price as the next heavyweight champion as the only viable heir to Wlad Klitschko. A little bit like Joshua situation now.
But joking aside Price has lost it, lost his confidence, he was just pawing with the jab. When you lose your confidence in something as hard as boxing you should pack in or at least wait until you get it back if you ever do. When you become fearful and lose confidence you become stiff and zapped of all your energy you can't perform, he would obviously have this and so many other things on his mind, it was not possible for him to punch, move, or take anything. It really is a shame when this sort of thing happens to anyone not only in boxing but in general. but in a boxing ring in front of a crowd and on TV it is the worst place for it to happen. Price should retire and hopefully get something new to do. I wish him well
****ing *****. Yeah, 96 people dying needlessly is something that should just get a little mention on page 30 of the papers and then be done with it.
He just never looked like he wanted to be in the ring. No confidence at all. Sad, really, but I think he's done.
The reason they like to talk about Hillsborough is because they refuse to accept any culpability on the matter. Fact is that there were a number of fans in the ground who DIDN'T have tickets. Yes the police made a complete pigs ear of it but anyone at that game who didn't have a ticket has blood on their hands too but the people of Liverpool don't seem interested in that. They also refuse to take any blame for Heysel but that's a rant for another time...
What fact is that, got any actual evidence aside from the scum and the lies that we all know beyond doubt was lies? Good lord some absolute pieces of **** on this forum, no wonder it's going to the dogs with stuff like this
Find it hard to disagree, and this is coming from someone who really roots for pricey, from what I've seen of him personally outside the ring at shows he's a real top fella, just think confidence wise he's shot when it comes to fighting guys who he sees as a threat. Don't think so much the second Thompson defeat ruined him, seeing him get up after the knockdown I feel made him think his power wasn't what he thought it would be at world level and seeing that just smashed his confidence Sadly for me he's going to be looked at a case study for how not to manage a fighters career, seeing him spark out the audleys of the world look great but does sod all for the development. Hearn (and to a lesser extent frank) got some stick for the quality of opponents they gave kell brook (Kotey/saldiva/Carson Jones) but he'd have learnt a hell of a lot fighting guys with different styles (jones I by all accounts from him taught him a lot) and helped him when he got the porter fight and when he (finally) fights the best guys in the division
The old Price would've at least tried to KO the guy and push him back, don't know what he was doing in there
