He just got sparked by a slap from an American Level fighter in 2 rounds.

Price is British level which is awful. He is essentially a White Audley Harrison with a Bronze instead of Gold Medal :rofl:patsch

Going from domestic level opposition to a seasoned contender like Thompson was clearly too big a jump. I for one didn't think Thompson was done yet and I was not sold on Price either based upon what I had seen.

Price has talent no doubt but there is no Manny Steward anymore to iron out his glaring defensive floors like for Wlad. Price will need to learn how to use his jab, control range, tie up his opponent and actually have some form of defense before he can make it beyond his current level.

Personally I think he's too old now, wasted too much time and hasn't learned enough after almost 4 years as a pro. I might be wrong but I think having only 16 fights after almost 4 years as a pro is simply not enough to have learnt what he needed to. Both Wlad and Vitali had almost as many fights in their first year as a pro as Price has had in his entire career so far.

I hope I am wrong and Price starts being managed better, fights regularly and is properly brought along instead of going from domestic level to being thrown in against an old but still world class heavyweight. I suspect we will see many other prospects fall by the way side in similar fashion in the next few years if they are not properly developed.

One loss isn't the end of the world nor is it the first knockout loss in boxing history like many here seem to think. He can come back and mix it up with the likes of Fury and so forth but that's pretty much it.

He just got knocked sparks out in his hometown by an American C- class fighter past his prime. Sadly for you, USA was very relevant in this case and in a comical way. The American was 41 years old and never good not even in his prime.

He never got to world level.

This was his test to get past the almighty "UK Domestic level" against a 40 year old out of shape fringe top 20 HW and he failed miserably.

Price completely dominated Thompson for 5 minutes, then got caught with one hard shot - a rabbit punch that messed up his equilibrium (as rabbit punches tend to do, which is why they are technically illegal)

OMG! Time to retire ! The man has no future whatsoever!

The OP is an idiot, even by ESB standards.

The punch was legal. I think you're the idiot.

David Price hasn't done much in 4 years. Tyson Fury is more proven and younger.

He was hyped up too prematurely. Maybe if he fought Dereck Chisora and knocked him out then perhaps he deserves a bit of hype.

Price took a tough fight, stiff opposition and proved he is not ready yet.

For me, I respect him more now then opting for padding his record.

Watch round 1. Thompson clearly "dominates" the first 2 minutes even if he lost the round and you can't deny that.

    ---

And a rabbit punch? Please........... try harder. Whine about a "hit and hold" or something.

I was wrong about Price. I think the only person that can save him would be Steward and he is not here anymore. Price can't take a punch and I'm never sold on egg chin fighters. Fury is the UK's best hope.

Nobody dominated in the first five minutes. The first round was very tentative on the part of both boxers, with Thompson doing slightly more. You could call it even or score it very closely for Thompson.

And the punch that took Price out was NOT a rabbit punch. It landed on his ear (affected his ear drum) and put him on ***** street.

As for being 'finished' I don't think so. I don't even see evidence that Price is Chinny. The punch was heavy and landed on a 'sweet' spot and would have dropped most HWs.

Price's problem is that it landed at all. He made a very elementary mistake in lowering his left hand and leaving himself open to the shot. He needs to work on his defence.

He can come back from this.
