If I was training price I'd start with him jabbing the heavy bag for a full session, nothing else. Then I'd work on him keeping guard while he jabs side on for a full session, then I'd work on his footwork when he jabs and keeps guard. I'd then repeat that for a fortnight until he can jab, keep guard and move in and out of range at the same time while side on. Basics.

I should have said they can be deadpan. That stiff upper lip irony that the British employ sometimes. Not the younger generations, some of the British broadcasted fights in the 90's had a hilariously deadpan commentator who would do fight commendatory by himself. He's a good example, though his name escapes me.

Am I just way off base here?

No I remember that guy. Used to commentate a lot on Eurosport fights. Sounded clinically depressed most of the time and would openly slate fighters during a match. Quite amusing.

Hope Price doesn't take up a career as a professional poker player on his retirement...

He'd gas whenever he got a good hand and expose it while getting a breather.

I just laughed out loud reading this. Yeah, that's him. He was absolutely shitting on Barrera when Junior Jones beat him the first time around.

"I've never been particularly high on this Marco Antonio Barrera fellow!"

best commentator ever in boxing was jimmy magee in ireland, he started losing it at he got older

rash'hee w.arren was fighting at the olympics and was wear bright green boots, jimmy said ' one thing's for sure, if there's a blackout here in London, you'll find Warren with those boots". This was followed by a pause after which he said "you mightn't see the rest of him".

or when he commentated on the bernard dunne ponswat fight, where in jimmys mind dunne was still winning the fight when he was leaving the ring on a stretcher

Right? Like why does he bend over like he's trying to tie his shoes? Can't be that tired right? Is that just his way of signaling his submission??

If you actually pause a david price fight and look at him he's actually not built normally. His head is the size of a MW, arms like a LHW, torso like a HW but really insanely long legs that make up most of his height. He doesn't just look really tall like tyson fury for example something is disproportionate.

I may start a separate thread on this but I think some people here are referring to Reg Gutteridge, the late, pompous but hilarious commentator.
I urge everyone to watch the charity match between Rick Gervais and Grant Bovey with Reg and Johnny Vaughn commentating. Johnny remarks on Joe Guest's ass coz she's the celeb ring girl, Reg is such a pro he just blanks the comment. The most awkward pause ever. Also he refers to Gervais as the "more upholstered" of the two. Surely the most diplomatic way of describing a fat person ever!

one of my highlights was when the commentator said all of price's losses have come from convicted steroid cheats lol.

big pricey is good entertainment value. they should just stick him on every british ppv for the lols
