Price has done jack **** as a pro so far and needs to knuckle down and show how good he is. Considering he is a heavyweight Olympic medallist with an unbeaten record, he should be a big name but hes only had 11 fights, not stepped up a level at all and nobody knows who he is. In 9 months the next batch of Olympians will be turning pro and potentially people like Joshua could be making a splash. Price is in danger of becoming forgotten.
You can only beat who you fight. I'm not saying he HAS shown it, but am saying he's got all the attributes, and his skill set is beyond what fury, chisora and McDermott have. The reason I've said 2-3 fights and then fight someone like arreola is that he does need a test. McDermott is not going to provide that.
No reason why Chisora vs McDermott cannot happen now. Then Price vs Chisora as an eliminator which is a much better fight.
sorry lads i can't understand the price hype at all , he has looked mediocre at best from what i have seen so far. I know that you can only beat what is put in front of you , but if he is destined to be a big star than he should be putting in conclusive performances ?? he seems to lack some head movement and a little stiff in the shoulders. as for an arreola test?-lamb to the slaughter ,,and i seriously think big john mcdermott could test him better than any other brit out there, the same way he did to the war machine. perhaps in time he will prove me wrong??!?!

Dog turd is a bit strong - he might be turd, he might be brilliant (okay, might be pretty good) we just can't tell from his current, depressing blend of inactivity/crap opponents.
Price needs to go with Matchroom, he hasn't been past 3 rounds since stepping up in competition. The McDermott fight would've been a good test, but I can Price stopping him within 3. He needs to go in with someone like Darnell Wilson.
Price isn't exactly young either hes 28, he has to step it up soon im not sure what Maloney is doing with him but whatever he is trying to do he is doing a very poor job
Agree, if I were Price I would leave Maloney, you only get so long and Maloney is wasting too much time. Not sure that Price has the imagination to make structural changes, though, he seems to have absolulute faith in Maloney.
If there hadnt been this injury and Pricey had gone through McD with relative ease - to set him up for a tasty clash with Fury next year... would you still be asking him to leave Maloney? To be fair, I dont think Maloney is to blame here. Injuries happen. It will put Price back by about six months presuming he fights early next year but then a Fury fight can still happen later in the year and if he gets through those two then we're talking about someone who's going to start taking on European/fringe American contenders in 2013. It means that he comes to fore in about two years time to start contesting for world title fights. At HW, you dont need to be young and particularly given his size, he needs to perfect a game plan rather than rely on athleticism. A few more years brewing could give him a great standing if he makes it to world level. You can probably guess from the above that I think he's got it and can get there. Just a matter of time. Agree that he needs to step up the level of opposition, but Saturday was that step up before another step up. Just a shame that he's injured. (oh - and it's a broken rib apparently)
Personally, I thought he should leave a year ago when he was already being brought along at a snail's pace. This was to be a decent fight (although not that amazing!), so obviously with this signed and Fury on the horizon it would be a strange time to leave. But now that he has a layoff with injury, and the other guys will presumably look to sign to fight other people and move on with their careers then yes, I still think that this is a good window of opportunity for Price to reboot his career and sign with someone who will put some meaningful energy into him. After all the hype and fanfare when he turned pro, it is crazy that his first title opportunity could be fighting for the vacant belt after Fury has vacated to face international opponents leading up to a world title shot! So whether or not it is all Maloney's fault - and clearly the injury is not - something is just not working in the current setup, imho, and as we all only get one shot at life I think that Price would be better served moving to a more dynamic setup. I don't think he will, though, he strikes me as a bit of a plodder who will run out of time. It is a question of whether one sees a world title as the final pinnacle of one's career - so is happy to invest ten years in getting there, then fight for it, maybe defend it once or twice and retire - or whether one wants to get there moderately quickly, then make an era-defining career around being the champion for many years. When first he turned pro, the vibe from Maloney was that Price had the talent to be in the latter category, however the current reality is that things seem to be geared more towards the former. Hence I think he should move.
