How can people be so sure about Price, who has he fought you can only ****ing judge someone at the level of opposition, which in price's case is utter dog turd.. He looked boring up to the last 2 fights which he has ended them with early KO's but i would definately not come on here and say he would brush Fury to one side because it aint happening and i doubt Price is up for it anyway.
I'm certainly far from sure about Price, as you say impossible to tell at this point which is why I think he should move along to more challenging opposition so we can all find out.
Indeed. At this point he would even do better self-promoted (which I am not recommending) - the current domestic heavyweights have fought one another in most permutations, so Price represents about the most interesting option for many of them. He could make some great domestic fights with a 'phone call. And as he presumably believes that he would win them, he could take his inspiration on frequency of fights from Tyson Fury rather than Floyd Mayweather and transform his reputation in a year.
Price gets sparked soon enough, Fury has progressed massively and will get better and better. Fury beats Price when and if it happens.
Fair point but I think luck is playing a major part here lads. He was signed up to Hayemaker at the start of his career and that looked like an exciting stable at first. Then Setanta went t!ts up and he had to move. Went with Maloney which looked like a decent move and after initially struggling for opponents (but getting in some good sparring) he would have had four fights this year had it not been for the injury. And the McD fight was first meant to happen in June but Dallas then had to step in. The rearranged one has obviously now gone out the window too. I think it's a bit harsh to blame Frank (and dont get me wrong, I'm the first to jump on a promoter's back if he's being slow or just continually setting up cannon fodder). He was out four times last year against journeymen. This year he's fought twice against two higher level journeymen and one undefeated prospect (albeit who stepped in at short notice) and had a fight with McD cancelled twice. Short of throwing him in with Fury tomorrow, I'm not sure what else could have been done. BUT - if we get to this time next year and a Fury fight hasnt happened (or another fight against an opponent of European/fringe world level) then I'll be in full agreement with you!
this fallacy has sprung up. he smashed dallas out and everyone started banging on about his power. prior to that everyone was slating him for not jabbing enough, with no authority, smothering his work, not aggressive enough. after 1 decent ish win we are rewriting history. lets see how he does after a couple of tests.....
Your full of **** Gary and just hate scousers I thinkpricey will win a world title in the next 18/24 months. This would have been a decent year for him,but for his rib injury coz he would have dealt with big John in 2 or 3 rounds IMO . And ready for a big year in 2012
I genuinely think a fit motivated big john would have given him fits. The kinda test he needed. He may well be a better boxer than fury, but I think fury is the better fighter....and that's why think fury will beat him
I don't think that I am guilty of propagating a fallacy - my basic point is that he should have had the tests that you refer to already. I think that we are in no position to judge his power, movement, courage under fire, ring generalship, all of that as he has not been in with an opponent to test that. I read nothing into the Dallas fight as Dallas took it at short notice and is hardly battle-hardened himself. I have no idea whether Price is any good, he looks as though he could be but will not be able to judge until he is put in with someone decent. As it has been so long without a decent test I think that in his position I would want to move on as something in his current setup is not getting him the fights he must want if his career is to progress. So I really don't think that I was guilty of hyping him or placing false credit on his shoulders or of changing my view because he knocked over a last-minute Dallas in the second round. I am not rewriting history, I am saying that he cannot afford to wait around much longer for the tests you refer to in your closing sentence - they should have happened already. When he knocked over Dallas so easily the only conclusion I drew is that a comparitively static, ponderous and upright fighter like Dallas should not have taken a fight against an unknown pro quantity with amateur pedigree like Price without decent notice. It didn't show anything much about Price, so your generalization is in error.
Yes, fair enough, but I personally think that the four journeymen you refer to were a waste of momentum. If he were matched more the way Fury has been he would be better able to afford any breaks caused by injury. But I absolutely see where you are coming from.
