"1510: Good first round from Price - 3-1 up, the Scouser working well behind his jab. One corking straight right from Price and Jaksto's legs appeared to sag there. Jaksto looks to be having trouble with his left thigh... AND DAVID PRICE HAS A MEDAL! THE TRAINER HAS WAVED THE TOWEL! " More info as it appears on the BBC site...no matter what happened though, guaranteed bronze, woohoo!
I was worried about this one, but it's all gravy as far as I'm concerned for Price now. Even if he loses in the semis that's a good return for the big lad. Of course, a silver or gold would be even better! Let's hope the other two get inspired by that.
I don't think a bronze medal will be of any interest to him whatsoever. Use that jab more, and none of the other guys will be able to beat him.
He looked in control to me anyway Keeps him nice and fresh for the semi The Italian lad looks good though
Who can last 2 full rounds with the mighty Price?! Heh. I'll say the same stuff for the Italian opponent as I thought would be useful here...Price has a good jab but needs to use it a lot more, get busier. You're absolutely right about that, Beeston.
Why would bronw not be of any intrest. Got a feeling Price and DeGale will get Gold and Silver, and Jeffries a Bronze.
Notice how the jab which rocked the opponents head right back didn't score????? From what I've seen so far, no one has been robbed, but I just hope it doesn't happen to one of our boys
That happened in Price's first fight too...landed a good stiff jab to the Russian and knocked his head back, no points. Added to the variable scoring for body shots and close punching, it seems the best way to succeed is repeated looping hooks to the head from a distance
A bronze wouldn't be of interest at all to me if I was in his position - he should (and will) be thinking about winning the entire thing, though it is clearly a great achievement to make an Olympic semi final and be guaranteed a medal.
That punch that rocked the kid on the ropes was class. Price seems to have growing power. Cammarelle is probaly my favorite amature fighter but Price could pull of the win.
My interpretation was that this was pretty much a TKO. The punch from Price appeared to cause the hamstring injury. I've seen that happen before in a gym - basically if you step forward and lock your knee and then get hit hard and your leg doesn't move your hammy is in big trouble!
