Inactivity is the least of Prices problems, infact I felt he fought quite reguarly. 3x in 5 months is decent for any title level fighter.

The problem for Price is he is to nice. In the ring he doesn't have a mean streak, and outside the ring he is to loyal. He should have ditched Franny Smith as soon as he turned pro and ditched Maloney as soon as he lost his TV deal.

From a training point of view, to prepare your fighter for fighting a 6ft5 250lbs HW by predomonatley sparring a novice Cruiserweight is ridiclous. Price should have been out in Germany sparring like Fury has done, gone out to the USA like Fury. From a physical standpoint, he is top heavy. Thats why he got KO'd on Saturday. His legs couldnt support him once his senses were gone. Im 5,9 and 165lbs and my legs are bigger than Prices. He doesn't have any kind of defence and he walks back onto the ropes far to often.

Regarding promotion/managment. He got rushed because Maloney has nobody else. Price jumped from Domestic to world class, when there are 20-30 Heavyweights inbetween he could have been facing. But Maloney had to fill up the Echo and have him main eventing to the likes of Fres Oquendo, Timut Ibragimov, Monte Barrett won't get 6,000 in the arena.

Price got over confidence from knocking over undermatched opponents. Dallas, McDermott, Sexton, Harrison & Skelton were all good opponents but there needed to be something inbetween those and Tony Thompson who was a legit top 10 Heavyweight. He needed rounds, he needed testing. Because he hadnt been tested when he faced somebody decent they exposed him.

Price also played up to the crowd. There was to much pressure on his shoulders, and he was more interested in please the crowd and getting the KO than using his brain. Price should have jabbed Thompsons face of for 6 rounds and then hit him with the right hand.

And lets be real. That was a grazing punch, trown from an out of shape and unmotivated Tony Thompson that was coming out for one last pay check.

This should be the best thing to happen to him, but it won't because he is to nice and to loyal. He won't ditch his trainer and he win't ditch Maloney!

Seriously this is bull****. You can talk about someone bossing a fight when its gone 5-6 rounds. But 1 round doesn't mean ****.

Good to see someone pointing this out, they always really mean the 2nd month.Sorry for David, still think he can do something, but with the injury, can see it being Sept/Oct{which one?} before he returns.Dont agree with those who say its just a blip, its a big setback, especially as has been pointed out,he's not a young man in boxing terms.Hope he gets over it,though.

Good post but I reckon Price could have sold the echo even if it was against a ibragimov or a barrett. He seems to be a very big ticket seller.

    Fair assesment.

He's already said he'll be returning in the summer June/July exactly the same as before, Maloney said the injury will take a month to heal.

He was superior in the first round and I think he would have gone on to stop him. I didn't say it was far in the fight, nothing wrong with my comment.

The ECHO wasn't even sold out on Saturday.

    this is bang on-

Also price shud have worked a deal where every 3 mnths its actual a tough opponent but in between he has off tv fights fighting c/b level journeyman.

Fighthing ten times a yr is crucial for prospects

Prospects never fight that often now, especially HWs.

Everything is wrong with your comment. Gavin Rees won the 1st round vs Adrien Broner! Pascal knocked Hopkins down twice. Pacquiao knocked Marquez down 3x. Roy Jones put Calzaghe on his ass. You can't jude a fight of 1 round!

Are you of the opinion that was a lucky shot, 1/100 chance and if there was a rematch in May Price would win?

He was beyond that point where he is a prospect. 4/5 x a year is fine which is what he was doing.

Cant see anything wrong with Irelands suggestion, really, although maybe a bout every 2months might be nearer the mark.More fights, more money. As of Saturday,I would have said David was a fringe contender and a good prospect.Still is,but if he fought 3 times year for the next 4years he could be in his mid thirties with twenty odd fights.

That is just a stupid comment you can't claim that he was winning the fight by winning one round seriously? In all honesty he didn't even dominate the round it was very tentative with not much happening.

Totally agree with the comment about price sparring a cruiserweight prospect. Why would a heavyweight ever spar a cruiserweight? It is not even like it is just one division. There can be 3 stone+ weight difference. It just gives you false confidence. I never understood why top guys spar with no marks. Price needs to get back on the road again and spar. He should be sparring past Klitschko opponents and future Klitschko opponents. You know he sparred mcdermott for the skelton fight? A guy he knocked out in one round for **** sake.

And when you are still a prospect for **** sake, the idea of a "training camp" should not even be a thing for you. You should just be training as much as possible without overtraining. Not 'have a fight coming up', 'train', break until 8 weeks before next fight and so on. It is amazing that even at gthe top level they do not know what the **** they are doing. Just a god damn waste of talent.

I don't understand how someone who wants to be heavyweight champion of the world has so much time off training in between fights. You need to train hard to be the best, it is simple really. Take a leaf out of Audleys book, he was back in training a couple days after Price KOd him.
