David Price will face Ondrej Pala in his next fight in Germany http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/boxing/liverpool-heavyweight-boxer-david-price-6765071 David Price will face Czech tough man Ondrej Pala in his next fight in Germany. The giant heavyweight tackles the 29-year-old in Berlin on March 29 in his second contest of the year. Pala was stopped in three rounds by fellow British heavyweight Dereck Chisora in November and Price can't wait to show what he can do against the man who has 23 knockouts in 33 career wins. "This is exactly the type of fight I need," said Price. "Pala is a guy who isnt afraid to come forward and trade. We saw this when he fought Chisora. Although Dereck got the stoppage, Pala was holding his own and I dont think he was ever in any real trouble, he just got spun into the corner and the fight was waved off. "Now its my turn. Im in great shape. Everything has been going really well in the gym with Tommy (Brooks). I am looking forward to getting in there and exchanging blows with this guy. I am confident that on March 29 I am going to get the job done." "This is the next step in the rebuilding process for Pricey," said promoter Kalle Sauerland. "Pala has a lot of experience and as his knockout record suggests, he can punch. This will be a good test for David and it should give us some indication of the progress he has made so far this year."
Good fight for him at this stage I think. Not sure whether it gets televised here as BoxNation have a domestic card that night.
Good on Price! It is risky though as we saw vs Chisora, Pala can bang. And if he shake up Chisora - he can DEFINITELY put Price to sleep. Will be a terrifying watch!
Price is going to come a cropper eventually if they keep matching him in this manner. They had another puncher beforehand as well. If he gets KO'd again, his already low confidence level will hit rock bottom.
Got a feeling Price could suffer another KO, this is a dangerous fight but perhaps one he needs to prove himself that he can take a shot. Sink or swim time Pricey, Pala is no mug and he comes to fight and despite his lack of ability he possesses a hard right hand. Price needs to keep at distance and keep firing off stiff jabs and use his feet, he can't let Pala get inside. Let's see if Price can manage it.
Despite getting knocked out by Airich when they last met, Pala actually is a step up in class from Airich. Pala was boxing Airich's ears off in their rematch but lazy defense and crumbling stamina in the late stages got him in hot water, and one thing limited Airich can always do is finish someone off. It would be a legitimate scalp for Price, maybe even his best to date - but, Pala is a mediocre puncher at best (mind you, that could still be enough to wreck Price with dented resistance...but in terms of raw power this is a step down from Airich) so they are still playing it safe with Price's whiskers even while matching him 'tough'. Brilliant matchmaking, actually.
Am confused ... David Price hasn't actually faced Airich though ... he fought some 5'10 midget ranked outside the world's top 500 :huh
Ah. I just remember hearing that he was supposed to face Airich on the Huck vs. Arslan II card, which I didn't get to see live, and obviously the forum didn't blow up with mockery posts about his third consecutive stoppage loss in a row so just assumed he took care of business with Airich in a routine manner. Don't think I ever caught wind that Airich failed his medical last-minute and got replaced - or plum forgot, if so. Anyway, my point stands, despite his TKO loss to Airich, Pala is a better overall fighter and more creditable scalp for Price than Airich (than he would've been.. :!, though with styles making fights he poses less of a threat for Price's chin.
