He will just turn into a stepping stone for other contenders. Kinda like a TYE Fields with better skills. Price has balls for taking a rematch right away. Its a big risk. Looking back Price was in control of there first fight but was fighting careless. He didn't show Thompson any respect. He just thought he would KO TT fast. Price has a lot of skills and punching power. For the sport I hope Price wins. But its not going to be easy. I really hope he learned somethings from Lewis. Price just needs to take his time and work behind the jab. If he does that it will be a easy win for him. I'm sure TT will try to land on his ear again.
I think Price will win the rematch, but IF he loses I think he'll go back to Domestic level as he still holds the British & Commonwealth belts, build up his confidence with a few easy wins then probably have another pop at a Euro/World rated opponent, not a southpaw this time.
Hes the next the Audley if he loses. But he won't. Lucky punches can happen with anyone even more heveyweights. But the best knock them out next time out
Laugh at the lucky punch. This guy had a history with that chin well before Thompson "touched"his ear
People are right. The amount of good, intelligent posters in this forum HAS taken a nosedive since the changes.
Expect him to fight a more cautious fight this time around and probably go around 7/8 rounds before Thompson becomes frustrated and gets taken out.
Not sure what to think of Price yet. He does have some ok skills--WAYYY more boxing skills than that big stiff idiot Fury !!
He doesn't have big balls taking a rematch. He had no choice. He has a promoter who has invested in him. If he loses twice, that promoter will contractually be let off the hook. It's a win-win for the promoter: if Price wins his career is revived (at least for now) and if he loses there's no more money to poor into a lost cause. That's why there was a rematch clause in the contract. Both guys signed it, not just Thompson.
If he loses he will have to go back to domestic level for a year or two, and work his way back up with confidence builders and hope to get a shot at a title when K2 retire and the titles are potentially in the hands of a few different titlests. I hope for the sake of the future of hw division though that Price will win and get back on course because he has very good power, size and decent skill and is still a good prospect, while Thompson is near retirement.
It seems as though Price got caught by a lucky punch. The first fight was a fluke actually. Lets see what transpires in the rematch
I just re-watched the fight and Price was not dominating even up until the point he got stopped. One of his eyes was also puffed up. Thompson is underrated and can actually crack, he has stopped like 8 of the last 10 opponents. He has really only lost to Klitschko, although I will concede his resume is thin (but he ****ed up Barrett better than Tua did). I don't know about Price and this fight. I really feel Thompson should be slightly favored to win. I'm actually going to bet on Thompson to win at +350, which is ****ing crazy IMO. Price's confidence might be shot and his punch resistance might really be poor (I hate agreeing with the keyboard "chincheckers" but they are probably right about Price's chin). I think Price should have not taken the rematch and just developed further against a fighter that isn't a 6'5 southpaw with good power (albeit Thompson is slow as ****). My gut feeling is Price loses in similar fashion to the first fight.
