Anyone notice how short it was? It appeared like Thompson had the longer and more effective jab, ate prices arms short or is it a lack of skill?

Try throwing a jab with tensed up shoulders

Just watched the john mcdermot fight, and first few moments johns jab lands square on his face with ease, in the thompson fight at times he could barley reach him!

    Fighting a southpaw is different.

Thompson and Price used their lead hands more defensively -- to snuff or nullify the other fellow's jab. That's why they were 'holding hands' so often.

It is notoriously hard to work the jab against a southpaw, for this reason.

Ah yes i see, but even against mcdermot as i mentioned, his jab looks 'short'?

He can't seem to effectively fight at distance, or even judge it accurately. He can't use the jab to keep fighters with a shorter reach on the outside.

It's troubling that this is an issue at his age. A fighter of his dimensions should live off the jab.

Price and Wawrzyk can literally compete for the HW title of "fighter with longest reach and shittiest jab"

Thats actually a pretty good comeback fight for either guy.

The winner would remain relevant and the loser would be delegated to gatekeeper.

Seems Wawryk had unfulfilled potential. As did Pianeta.

I hate to see those guys fade off into oblivion as both could be mainstays in the HW landscape for another couple yrs.

Yeah theyd take some L again top guys, but both have the tools to remain in or near the top 30 indefinitely.:thumbsup

Guy is just a big dork.

    Very uncoordinated. Very unathletic.

They were touching or rubbing their lead glove against the others for a few seconds quite often. Like gay lovers.

I remember a few years back some people in Poland were claiming that Wawrzyk was the second coming of Golota

tbh, I don't give either much of a chance to reach anything higher than Euro-level at best, both guys unfortunately can't take a punch, they don't know how to throw a proper jab, and both seem to gas pretty quickly

I noticed the same myself a while back. In the Skelton fight he seemed incapable of keeping the smaller man at range, in a fight where he should have boxed off the back foot behind his jab he seemed incapable of this.

He paws with the jab, rarely ever fully commits so can't control the range, which for a fighter who doesn't seem to know what to do with an opponent on the inside is a fatal flaw.

Price is all offense, if he can't impose his power early and keep his opponent on the defensive he's in trouble.
