I often wonder if his power is somewhat overstated. Whenever his name is mentioned for a fight (one he usually doesn't deserve), there are a lot of mentions of "well, if Prices lands he can KO anyone". Every time. And yet, he's been unable to properly KO or really damage anyone with a pulse...ever. That's not to say he isn't a big hitter, but what I'm asking is is he really THAT much of a big hitter?

I think this calls for a CST80 thread: Bellew and Price, the gruesome twosome, the sparring legends of Liverpool.

Of course they're **** when it comes to actual fights but they 'bounce everyone around the ring' in practice.

I suppose its never been tested at the top level.
He was able to hurt Thompson and he did spark a couple of his lower tier opponents and with the size of him - your going to feel it but at the top level where the elites play - Jury out

I do think he's a legit big hitter - but only opinion formed on his fights so far - so it doesn't mean much does it

Hugely overrated power IMO. Some people claim he is the biggest puncher in the division yet he's gone the distance with fighters that would get blown out by Joshua, wilder, Ortiz , haye, klitschko and probably others.

I used to love watching Pricey on the way up blasting through domestic opposition. Back then he did look like he had real dynamite in his fists.

But the problem as you fight better opponents, is that there are certain punches that either completely stop landing, or very, very rarely land. I get the feeling they include Price's best punches.

Well I think his power is overrated but I'll be honest I wouldn't want a punch in the face from him.

Only because I'd get angry and have to serve him a Teper type KO. I'm not fat and hairy like Teper but I have a half decent left hook, it's not great but with Price's chin it doesn't have to be.

I really believe he has gamechanging power, and Thompson was actually kinda lucky the big KD came very late in the 2nd round in their 2nd fight.
But he also clearly is a "glass cannon" so to speak, with a very shaky chin, and pretty bad defence to boot.

At this stage, I suspect David Price has even less belief in his power than any of you doubters have expressed here.

    Overrated IMO.

    His punches look odd.

His straight right hand is powerful, not sure about anything else. Be hard to hit anyone at top level with his 1-2 standard combo.

Deontay is by FAR the hardest in the division

    Followed by parker

    Then povetkin and klitschko

    Then Ortiz and miller

Then joshua and Haye a ways back (all their knockdown are flash knockdown and British stoppages)

    Then price

Haye stopped iron bearded Chisora. His power is up there with the best of them. Whyte appears to have a good chin too and he got left looking like Patrick Truman after he'd had a stroke by Joshua.
