he foght eubank coming from a different division with a few day notice, woodhall when he wascrippled and should have bee retired permanently, and Veit...there is no explanation for defending against such paucity as veit, ever.

However I agree that Lacy and injured kessler in cardiff were good wins, you are quite right there. There are a few other good wins, not sure why you didnt mention them.

Bailey I stepped off this round about long time ago
I aint as high on Joe as you or the wbo title nope
Joe never took any real risks his own father and promoter have said if only Joe believed in Joe like they both did
Its in his own book his autobiography
Kessler was not the experienced fighter he was very much a hidden anomaly Scandinavia / Germany a kin to Joe not high on travelling to far at the time

Joes arguably the best super middle of all time. Jones jnr is the only one who beats him imo..Ward pushes him, but without doubt a great fighter Joe ! Hopkins went on a great run after Joe slapped him up, Jnr was done.

    So so
    You should
It was like trying to get a petulant child to school trying to get Joe in the ring at times
    Or something along them lines
States how beating nard and Roy st this stage proves nothing of merit then went on to face both
    A couple of years later

I think Fwank said at the time that Joe lacks confidence. Quite a complex character really, as he was at his best when his back was up against the wall. I think with the money and the names on his record, he would of been foolish to knock the fights back. Hopkins was a very good close win, an underrated win, Jones Jnr was just a money fight, no glory there..

Im not here to discuss Calzaghe but will question a bit here.
What risks did Calzaghe decline at SMW where he was a champ?
Kessler was 39-0 and was a unified champ lol. He had also defended abroad
Calzaghe for a fighter who didnt travel had also defended abroad.

Why have you wrote / Germany?

As for the WBO title at SMW. It came around at the same time as the WBC. In fact the first WBO SMW title fight was before the first WBC SMW title but we are only talking days.
There was a unification between the 2 title holders which ended in a draw in a fight where many felt Hearns had beaten Leonard.
That was also considered the premier fight at the time at SMW which was also another world title at a different weight for T Hearns

Above are facts. Not me disputing anything

If it were a world title like the WBU or WBF SMW titles which came around later and not at the same time, I could see your point, but when you have a title of the same age and involved in a unification and where the holder at the beginning was also considered by some as the top SMW at one point whilst holding that title. Struggle to see where you are coming from

It is honestly amazing how popular Joe Calzaghe is on here.

I remember following him years ago, and thinking he retired without really getting his props. Turns out I was wrong. Fighters seem to get more popular, and appreciated years after they have retired.
