One of the best talents to grace the light middle division. He retired early because of an eye injury. More than held his own against a prime Tito when he only had a handful of fights. He wasnt ruined the way Vargas was vs Tito though.

His eye was operated on several times with no success to repair the drooping lid. He was basically forced to retire because of it. He was fast and had good skills, but he had little power, and he was beaten pretty one sided by Trinidad.

I went to college with him at Northern Michigan. He basically gave up on his career. He moved up to 168 and got knocked out by a journey man -Sam Hill. Coach Mitchell talked about how David just lost his heart for training and fell into the wrong crowd. You could probably chalk it up to the beating he recieved by Tito. He got rushed into that fight (like his 13th fight) and never recovered.

He already had a droopy eye and coupled with an illegal handwrapping fighter in Cheatoe he was never able to recover. Had it not been for the excessive low blows and wraps David would have won that fight. He was whooping Cheatoe's ass halfway through the fight and even put him on his one dimensional ass.
