David Rodriguez: Undefeated Heavyweight

There hasn't been much discussion because he's been inactive for two years. And when he's been active, he fought bums.

I don't think there is much more to say.

 

Wilder fights nothing but bums, and yet people talk about him!:think

 

Rational & logically thinking people don't.

 

I've seen David Rodriguez fight a number of times and he's actually got some skill and i would give him a good chance against the likes of Wilder.

 

He was knifed in the face, lost three pints of blood and had 369 stitches inside and out.

 

Unlike Wilder, Rodriguez doesnt do a chicken dance from a journeymans jab....or hide like a little girl waiting to lunge in with a timed punch.

Rodriguez fights much like a young Tyson.....in that he goes right up in his opponents guts until he finds the opening for a bomb.

How many HWs has Wilder dropped with body shots? Rodriguez otoh has an iron chin....at least before he was given his columbian necktie, and can drop guys to the body when an opening presents.

If the two were to meet.....it would be light outs completely in a rd or two and Oscar would literally cost himself millions by exposing Wilder to a puncher with a chin. :think

 

as for the OP.....

Yeah, Nino had his throat slashed. Then, after he was cleared to fight, he signed to fight Quezada....he tore a ligament in his knee, but he is returning Dec 14th on the stacked UC of Monsour vs Kelvim Price.

Hopefully this comeback fight will lead to a Monsour vs Rodriguez or Cunningham vs Rodriguez fight since all three are fighting that night.

Obviously both Cunningham and Monsour prefer that Rodriguez loses since they both actually stand a chance against the other.:think

 

Its not that hes been inactive recently..hes always waited months or years between fights

Guys 36 and started his career 15 years ago, never stepped up

What do you expect? You cant get excited over a guy like that...:verysad

 

I followed his situation a bit. He seems to have a regional focus and has done ok for himself as a fighter on a local level. Can't fault him for boxing and winning his fights because unlike Wilder he isn't projecting himself as a world champ in waiting.

 

He signed with Top Rank and they have a ton of TV dates, so he'll get some exposure. If you read interviews with him you can tell he's pretty down to earth. I sort of wish him luck.

 

Most he's had between fights before nearly dying and tearing a ligament was 11 months since the start of his career. He had 3 the last year he was active in 2011.

Edit - 2 years between his 3rd and 4th fights.

 

Let me point out some random lengths of time he has been inactive between his fights

8 months between Lopez and Whitehead fight

8 months between the Turlington and Quigley fight

7 months between the Turlington (fight 2) and Goodson fight

6 months between the Gutcher and Sample fight

6 months between the Pucheta and Davis fight

6 months between the David and Bispo fight

And there are more long times. You get the idea. Most of these bums he was blasting out in the 1st 2nd or 3rd round...that doesn't necessitate waiting that long between fights

Simply, hes been a pro for 15 years and NEVER done anything of note. :deal
