David Sánchez vs. Luis Concepción RBR

Round 4

Sánchez is hit with a few straight lefts on the body as Concepción turns southpaw. Sánchez is hulking over Concepción now, taking advantage of what seems to be a wearied lull, collecting leather on his forearms. Concepción not putting much on his punches. One solid right hand gets through and knocks Sánchez's head back. Concepción follows up on it and starts retaking the lead, coming forward and drilling rights on the body. Left upper-hook by Concepción while passing by Sánchez, orthodox again. Sánchez claps both hands all over Concepción's upper back and behind the neck, just paddling him, not spiteful punches (and not all legally scoring) but connecting. Flush left hook by Sánchez.

Round 5

They're just now starting to lean in and clinch, after four rounds of war. Sánchez is marching forward, tagging Concepción with rights on the point of the crown and catching him with left hooks before he can recover. Concepción is getting lit up now, looking fragile. Concepción refuses to take a voluntary step back, and drops anchor to start pumping straights at Sánchez. Huge body shots from Sánchez, and he gets hit by a couple of stinging right crosses from Concepción. Flip-up left jabs by Concepción, very light, meant to set up a big right hand but he lacks the strength to wind it up, let alone make it a sharp and well-aimed one. Concepción looks ready to drop as the bell rings, needing the rest badly.

Round 6

Concepción is now refreshed, with a calm and dignified air to his work, boxing rather tidily on the outside. Stiff jabs by Concepción, working from mid-range, setting up the right cross. Sánchez is now the one looking as though he needs a siesta, and is bleeding heavily from the face. Wild hooks by Sánchez while scurrying outward and to his left to avoid Concepción's preferred range of circling and working straights into the head and body.

Round 7

Concepción is knocking Sánchez back with single rights speared into his temple. Sánchez is taking a couple of steps in reverse, huffing and puffing, stopping and planting his feet and hunkering down to hook with both hands into Concepción's body. At one point Concepción falls to all fours while landing a hard straight right on the body and happening to get cuffed by a Sánchez hook. Not a knockdown. Sánchez is backed up continuously but does sneak in a few nice ambush shots, like a left uppercut leaping up from a crouch in retreat. None of it phases Concepción.

Round 8

Sánchez is feeling brave as he sees Concepción turn southpaw and paw a few light jabs with his right hand. Sánchez is jumping in and raking the back of the head with the right hand, and poking Concepción low with the jab puncturing his abdomen from point blank. Concepción is coasting the round, sort of going through his motions and letting Sánchez work, playing the part of the outside boxer albeit lazily and distractedly. Breather session.

Round 9

Another slip as they exchange, not a knockdown. Sánchez is ripping giant left hooks into the body, spinning himself entirely into them for torque. Concepción is feathering all over him with the left hand, as both a wavy hook and backhanded up-jab on the inside, doing most of his serious work upstairs with the right hand. BIG sustained assault by Sánchez, virtually boxing Concepción's ears and squeezing his grey matter into a ball of goo between his fists. Concepción now responds, pushing Sánchez into the ropes with an irritant jab in the face, thrown lightly and not particularly straight but effectively blinding and demoralizing Sánchez and leading to big right hands that sap his will. Concepción just won't show pain. Nothing Sánchez does even matters.
