I did not even know David Lopez was fighting this past Saturday night, and that is odd since he is one of the "not so famous" guys I try to keep track of.

Lopez scored a very comfortable UD over Saul Roman after 16 months of inactivity. It wasn't a great win. It was just David Lopez doing the same thing he has been doing for the past 5 years: Boxing the ears off every journeyman, club fighter, and C-level opponent that gets in front of him.

After he beat Ossie Duran on FNF there were a handful of us here on ESB that were anxious to see him capitalize on the win, keep his momentum, and work himself into a money fight. However, he was inactive for so long that I thought he retired. I guess not.

Thx for the update! David Lopez is somewhat overlooked, I'm not really sure why. Wouldn't mind him getting a title shot fighting Pirog or Golovkin, maybe fighting an eliminator vs. Pavlik or N'Dam N'Jikam, he deserves a major fight.

Manfredo's name has been bandied about as a possibilty for KP's next opponent. I think Lopez is a better opponent. Hell, he was in the Ring Magazine top 10 for a long time, and only dropped out of the top 10 due to inactivity.

Lopez has fought everywhere from light middle to cruiserweight and back again. He fought Roman at 160. Both weighed in at 157 3/4.

He's a big 160, I couldn't understand why at his age he was trying to make a run at 154. Maybe he can finally make that fight with Rubio. If I was his manager I'd go right after Zbik, before he dropped weight and went inactive he was rated 1 or 2 for the WBC.

Saul Roman is a decent win even if he's well past his best. He's only ever lost to very good fighters.

Andy would be very lucky to get his hands on a highly ranked chinny guy like lopez. Lopezs team wouldnt take the risk there is nothing in it for them.

Unfortunately David Lopez is a card carrying member of the "Who The **** Needs That Guy" club. Nobody wants there highly touted prospect, or hot young contender, out there getting his ass kicked by a guy who has 12 losses.

I see a lot of posters tossing the term "throwback" around on ESB like pig skin at a foot ball game, and it is usually mis-applied. David Lopez is a true throwback fighter. He learned his craft on the job. He has been grossly mis-managed, and he has been jobbed, robbed, and screwed more times than a $10 dollar crack *****, but he stayed in the game.

After a war with Fulgencio Zuniga in January of 2005, something changed. David hasn't lost a fight since then, and he ammased 15 straight wins that included 8 KO's or TKO's.

Remember Micheal Walker? We saw him give Danny Jacobs a rough time on the Pac/Hatton under card, and he knocked out an old Echols before that. Lopez took him out in 7 rounds.

How 'bout Epifanio Mendoza? He fought Jeffy Lacy on FNF. Most people felt Mendoza won that fight. Lacy had to resort to a double leg take down to keep from getting knocked out! Lopez knocked Mendoza out in 7 rounds.

He also scored a wide UD over Danny Perez who had shared the ring with numerous well known opponents.

None of the guys I mentioned are world beaters, but Lopez consistently beats that class of fighter. Many less deserving boxers have had their shot at a title match or a money fight. It's David's turn God Damn it.
