Heavyweight is where I'll be once this fight with Maccarinelli is over on Saturday. Emulating Holyfield at cruiserweight and heavyweight has been my goal since I turned professional in December 2002. This fight with Maccarinelli is Holyfield's kind of fight. It's a gamble – a tasty fight on paper that has got everyone talking, predicting and interested in boxing again. The sort of contest Holyfield would've taken without second thought in his 17th or 18th fight. If every boxer thought and acted like a young Holyfield, these sorts of fights would come round every year or so, rather than every 10 or 15 years as is the case now He says that after he finishes Maccarinelli Hes moving up and taking over the heavyweight division. Im looking froward to this fight but I dont know about him calling out the heavys. I think he should stay at cruiser. Going to be a good fight though.
I am so tired of cruisers moving up to heavyweights. I can think of quite a few heavies who would be better off fighting sought of the 200 lb mark. Give me a fit , lean and mean cruiser instead of an out of shape small heavy any day!
Remember - Heavyweight is where the real money is at. As much as you'd like to see some of these guys stay in there own Weight Division - they aren't getting paid what they would make as Heavies. **** - if you're going to stay competitive and fight tough fights - you might as well get compensated for it and compensated well.
He can hardly make cruiserweight anyway. The quote in the first post is why I rate the bejesus out of him, he'll fight any ****er.
I've been saying it for years, even did an article here on 'im. I'm gonna look well stupid if he doesn't win on Saturday!
