There's an old thread where someone who sparred them talks about this, I'll try and find it.

Different types of punchers. Foreman was taller and longer limbed; his power was like a wrecking ball, massive ponderous swings that generated tremendous force when they hit, but his lack of speed meant he needed to wind up quite significantly to punch with full strength. Tua was short and compact, and explosive like a dynamo, which meant he could explode out of a crouch and generate full power in a split second.

In terms of "raw power" (a kind of meaningless concept really) I'd say Foreman might have been slightly higher, but Tua was more likely to put fighters' lights completely out with single shots, given how quickly and explosively he punched. Foreman was more capable of breaking you down over rounds however; Tua wasn't really that good at that.

I'm sure it was post comeback Foreman, so take it for what you will.

Nicely put ... I've always likened Foreman to a "thudding" puncher; his technique was sometimes downright sloppy, but his immense strength made it a moot point. He'd throw these prodigious punches that started a week ago, but when they landed, it didn't matter (of course, there were a few exceptions; that right that floored Moorer was as straight and well-thrown as they come). I liken Tua to the Tyson mold - quick, explosive and powerful, and maybe - MAYBE - a tad behind George in terms of sheer strength. It's the difference between being run over by a Mack truck or hit by a Porsche at 140mph ... you're still paste.

Tua for that one left hook if it lands, but George had more power in everything...

    Thanks for posting this.

The word I’ve seen more from people who fought (or in this case sparred) Foreman is numb.

Wherever he hit you, with whatever punch, you went numb.

That’s freakish power. Like one jab and, as the guy says in that link, your whole face feels like it’s been pumped with Novocain. Imagine. And I’ve seen other acccount from guys who said if he hit you on your arm or shoulder, you couldn’t feel that part of your body after.

Boxing is full of these punchers like Tua; obviously hard punchers that get overblown due to some KO's, but lack the knockdowns and knockouts of higher quality fighters they fought.

Foreman is a proven puncher against top guys. Tua is not. He lost against the two best guys he fought by easy decisions and didn't make use of any of that power. He stopped several decent/credible guys with questionable chins.

Tua KO'd 4 future or ex champs. That is not a fluke. I saw him hit a guy on the neck and break his ankle. Not a fluke. His power was tremendous. His game was not. He was a decent boxer with talent but didn't have range which didn't afford him variation in his approach. But power? Elite. Uber-elite.

Foreman was much heavier-handed. Imagine if Foreman had landed 282 times on Ibeabuchi.
