Is that what the newspaper would be saying if Ali defended his title against Tua in 1966 rather than George Chuvalo?

No, Tua didn`t have much skill compared to a savvy offensive fighter like Ali, Muhammad would confuse Tua more than Lewis did and he had a great chin, Shavers hit as hard as Tua if not harder.

No, it'd be saying "local contender required 57 stiches to the face due to bout with Muhammad Ali"

Unless it's forum Tua, who blitzes Marciano and Louis in the same night

Tua goes the distance but gets schooled by a prime Ali.

Ali of course, but Shaver did not compare to Tua. They hit comparably hard, but Tua had an iron chin as well.

Tua beat good fighters like Maskaev, Moorer, Ruiz and Rahmen. Outside of Norton, Shavers' record is pretty thin.

The only version of Ali that Tua would have beaten is the Ali who shouldn't have been in the ring any more.

The Classic forum version of Tua is undefeated in dream fights, so he wins.

The real David Tua who struggled badly with Maskaev and Izon gets schooled.

No he doesn't have the footspeed to pull it off against a prime Ali and he doesn't have the willingness to risk getting stopped to pull it off vs post exile Ali.

Both were exposed in the Lewis fight. He quit trying to win in that fight and plodded to a decision loss knowing he was willingly forfeiting his chance at history.
His corner was begging him but he made a conscious decision not to roll the dice.

    Ali UD 15.

What would be McVeys prediction for this fight?

It would be really interesting if Tua landed a left hook like Cooper or Frazier.

Appropriate word "starch", just what he was encased in, in his non - effort v Lewis. Mind you, he looked exactly the same, many years later against Ustinov.

Yes, it would be interesting if Ali got floored and badly hurt by a Tua hook and had to survive.

I think he was hurt in both of those instances. He was lucky that Cooper caught him late, if I remember correctly.
