You don't "lose or win" exhibitions and sparring sessions there are no verdicts given.atsch Dubble chin has given the correct amount of pro fights Corbett had ,give it up for f*ck's sake. You are making me feel embarrased on your behalf!
When Corbett fought Choynski , he had a lot of experience of boxing exhibitions and sparring sessions as he was his AC's,[The Olympic Club,] Heavyweight Champion, he had won several Silver Gloves tournaments and was a Golden Gloves champion ,Choynski was a 20 years old novice. I boxed for over 18 years ,you never have ,and now you are telling me about"effective staking distance" your words. Have you any idea how ridiculous you are making yourself?atsch
Strange, then, that Corbett's contemporaries like Fitz, Jackson and McCoy all had over 100 recorded fights that have come down to us. Choynski 80+, Sharkey 50+, Sullivan 40, Kilrain 40. Either Corbett's career has been lost to history on a hugely disproportionate scale, or he just didn't have that many official bouts.
Dont you see the problem here? You have based your entire argument around size advantage being decisive, and then when the size disparity is reversed in favour of the older fighter, you argue the complete opposite. By saying that Mayweather could beat Corbet, you are effectively saying that a massive size disparity is irrelevant, because it can be overcome by superior skill. As soon as you accept this premise, it follows that Corbett could logically beat Tua based on superior technique. It pays to be consistent in your argument, because if you are not, unkind people might point it out!
If this information isn't there to be found, then how do you know it was ever there in the first place? These guys weren't living in the dark ages. They were celebrities in an era of mass newspaper coverage. Someone took the trouble to record Corbett's many exhibitions, vaudeville appearances, street fights and so on, so it's strange that scores of pro fights could slip through the net. Especially when the same didn't happen for Sullivan, Fitz or Jackson.
