Perhaps a better analogy would be an earlier version of Jimmy Slatterey.

Wait, Corbett is not fast? In what world? I know that footage from that period is very blurry and most of the time slowed down, but he looks certainly like a fast fighter.

You seem to have some trouble understanding the difference between assumptions and common sense!

If you watch the films, or read the news coverage of his fights, you'd find that statement to be true.

Out boxing a worn out soak like Sullivan, running away for 20 odd rounds until the old man was exhausted. out boxing bareknucklers such as McCaffrey a fat Kilrain and a small Mitchell is rather different to out boxing a David Tua.Tua was vulnerable to fast boxers but he generally caught up with them as witness Oquendo.

You can only run for so long, and corbett is giving up about 50 lbs while not being a very durable guy against a devastating hitter and body puncher who did his best work against the ropes. Tua also had a quick underrated jab and immense stamina in his prime. He wasnt your typical slow plodding brawler who gassed early.

You just hate fighters who fought pre 1910.

I believe Corbett outboxed Jeffries for about 22 rounds. I do believe he could outbox Tua indefinitely. It's impossible for me to pick Tua, unless I think Tua is better than Jeffries, which I don't.

Im sorry but boxing has evolved so much since then. And when i mean evolution i dont mean tweaks that have just made boxing different. mean Evolutionary tweaks that has made boxing far better. You could even argue that top boxers from Joe Louis's are too evolved for Corbett.
